A narrow, utilitarian corridor that slices between the bridge and cargo hold 1, its walls lined with exposed panels and grated flooring that hums with subsonic engine vibration. Overhead, the ceiling access hatch yawns open, revealing the coiled intestines of the Skonnon drive systems—a tangle of exposed conduits and glowing coolant lines running along the ribs of the hull. The air smells of ozone and overheated metal, thick enough to taste, while the distant thrum of failing engines pulses through the bulkheads like an irregular heartbeat. Emergency lighting casts everything in a sickly amber glow, harsh and unflattering to the repurposed tools scattered across the deck plates.
