A narrow metal stairwell ascending through the heart of the TARDIS, its riveted walls cold to the touch with a faint mechanical hum vibrating through the banisters. Fluorescent light strips flicker intermittently, casting jagged shadows against the metal grating of each step. The air carries the acrid tang of ozone and overheated circuitry, the scent of a ship forever on the edge of excess. Far above, unseen corridors branch off like arteries while the space descends below into the ship’s underlevels. The atmosphere tightens as characters move urgently upward, boots ringing on metal, shadows rushing to overtake them in the narrow confines.
