Megapolis One

Megapolis One looms as a colossal urban monolith, its vertical spans piercing the smog-choked sky with a lattice of towering spires and corrugated hab-blocks fused together without seam. The city breathes in neon livery, its arteries pulsing with the arterial glow of transit tubes and the clatter of pedestrian decks. Refugees and corporate serfs move in silent procession through climate-controlled concourses, their footfalls swallowed by the hum of ventilation that circulates the reclaimed air of generationally enclosed space. The lower tiers press toward the planet’s bowels, rancid with recycled effluvia and the metallic tang of industry, while the upper strata glisten under pressurized domes that admit pale simulacra of sunlight. Here, the Doctor drifts through a temporary asylum of glass and rebar, his presence a flicker of defiance in a metropolis designed to crush the wandering human spirit.
