Stage Trap Door

This narrow, concealed aperture sits flush with the theatre’s stage floor between the warped floorboards. Its hinged panel, secured by a rusted latch, opens with a groan to a cramped service passage below. The darkness beneath is thick with the scent of old wood, greasepaint, and damp earth. From the Doctor’s perspective, the void beneath the trap door looms like a mouth waiting to swallow him whole. The trap’s hinges creak under even slight pressure, announcing arrival more than concealing it.
