Undersea Harbour

An artificially constructed deep-water anchorage carved into the seabed, the Undersea Harbour exists as a subterranean bastion for submarines fleeing pursuit or conducting covert operations. Ridgeway describes it as the submarine’s current sanctuary—a place where mechanical beasts of the deep can lurk undetected beneath crushing pressure and perpetual dark. The harbour is not an open ocean expanse but a hidden enclave, its entrances concealed by rock formations, coral growth, and the ceaseless muddy drift of the channel floor. Rows of mooring rings line the cavern walls, their rivets glistening under the submarine’s weak floodlights, creaking in time with the shifting currents. The air here is thick with salt, diesel fumes, and the metallic tang of submerged iron; condensation drips constantly from the arched ceiling, pooling on the turreted hulls of docked subs. Silence rules except for the distant groan of water through intake valves and the occasional metallic thud of routine maintenance hammering against pressure-resistant bulkheads. It is a refuge, but one where escape is only possible on terms set by the harbour’s unseen architects—whether pirates, naval commandos, or things better left unnamed.
