Long rows of hydroponic troughs stretch beneath artificial grow-lights that cast a sterile glow over the withered plants, their leaves yellowed by the controlled atmosphere. The scent of nutrient solution mixes with the sharp odor of desperation—porters and laborers move through the aisles with quick, furtive steps, their hollow cheeks marking the famine that grips the planet. Stark white walls reflect the sickly fluorescence, the hum of ventilation systems a constant drone above the rasp of empty stomachs. Guards patrol the aisles with batons at the ready, their presence turning necessity into suspicion; even the theft of a single vegetable becomes the pretext for spectacle justice in the throne room. The place is both breadbasket and pressure cooker, where survival depends on silence and hunger.
