Main Cavern

The cavern yawns open before them, a jagged maw of darkness that swallows the dim emergency lighting. Rough-hewn stone walls glisten with moisture, their surfaces slick with old water stains and the sheen of recent seepage. The air is thick with the scent of damp earth and something older, metallic, lurking beneath. Overhead, stalactites hang like the fangs of some long-dormant beast, their tips lost in shadow. The cavern stretches unevenly, with uneven floors forcing careful footing; the ground here slopes gently downward into blacker depths that promise no return. Echoes of distant dripping water fill the space, punctuated by the low thrum of unseen machinery. This is where the Creature’s lair begins, the threshold where preparedness meets the unknown.
