Krynoid Dew Pond

A stagnant, murky pool half-hidden by thick mats of glossy pondweed that undulate at the water's surface like living ropes. The air reeks of decaying vegetation and damp earth, the humidity so thick it beads on Scorby’s skin as he stumbles onto the slick mudbank. Blackened algae clings to the edges of the shallow depression, its edges soft and treacherous—what appears solid gives way when stepped upon. Ribbons of pondweed coil upward as Scorby falls forward, their sudden grip on his limbs tightening with predatory efficiency. The pond’s still waters mirror nothing but the encroaching green horror at its margins, where the Krynoid’s corruption has transformed ordinary marshland into an executioner’s trap.
