Temple of Death

Colossal subterranean temple carved from solid rock, its vaulted cathedral-like ceiling rises high, supported by stone columns and balconies. Dark side chambers open off the main space, where Thuggee worshippers chant to Kali around a central altar. A wide crevasse splits the floor, molten lava bubbling below for heart-ripping sacrifices. Statues of elephants, lions, and demi-gods line the walls. The Sankara Stones glow with supernatural light here, pulling Indiana Jones from a wind tunnel overlook into the ritual's horror amid beating hearts, flames, and fanatic devotion.
