The Doctor drives it at high speed, but their journey is abruptly halted when an irrigation pipe blocks the track. The buggy’s condition is already compromised, described as 'clapped out and broken,' foreshadowing its imminent abandonment. As the Primitives ambush the vehicle by rolling a boulder toward it, the buggy is forced off the track, its wheels spinning uselessly in the dust. The Master exits just in time to avoid being overturned, and the vehicle is left abandoned beside the gully, its broken state symbolizing the fragility of the Doctor and Master’s journey and the unpredictability of Uxarieus’s dangers.
