Purpose

To contain a high-value prisoner and prevent unauthorized access or escape through a secure locking mechanism and reinforced construction.

Significance

The Master subverts this object’s purpose entirely. Though intended as a barrier enforcing his captivity, he transforms it into a stage for psychological warfare, using the illusion of confinement to manipulate the Doctor into confronting his own investigative failures and exposing the inadequacy of bureaucratic control over true malice.
