The glass case is the physical embodiment of the vault’s security—and its failure. Its transparency allows Ian to see the micro-key before being attacked, but its violation (the empty case beside the guard’s body) becomes the cornerstone of Tarron’s case. The case’s design—presumably tamper-proof—is cited as proof that only someone with access (like Ian, in Tarron’s narrative) could have removed the key.
