Exxilon Beacon

The Exxilon beacon system consists of two integrated components: 1) The main beacon tower, which pulses with an unnatural white light from atop a towering spire within the city that rises from the ground. Its hypnotic glow cuts through the rocky terrain, drawing Sarah Jane's gaze despite the surrounding danger of lurking Exxilon life forms. The beacon's light shimmers in rhythmic pulses, creating an otherworldly contrast to the natural landscape. 2) The Pulse Wire (formerly 'Exxilon Beacon Pulse Wire'), a tightly braided conductive cable threaded along the spire that serves as the conduit for the beacon's energy transmissions. The wire hums with unnatural energy whose erratic pulses synchronize with the main beacon's rhythmic beaconing. Together, these components emit a directed energy signal capable of halting Exxilon's plague and healing afflicted worlds, serving as a key to the Exxilon city's ancient technology.

Purpose

To collect and channel atmospheric electrical energy through hidden root networks to sustain the Exxilon city's power needs, operating as both life-support and environmental control system

Significance

The central mechanism powering the Exxilon city's predatory existence—its energy drain directly threatens the TARDIS and Earth mission ship's systems, making it the critical point of intervention for the Doctor's dilemma: preserve Earth's mission or save the city's inhabitants. Its dislocation through Gotal's rebel probe creates a narrative pivot from the city's dominance to local resistance, framing the beacon as both oppressor and potential tool of liberation
