Object
Cast Iron Security Railing
A thick, cold cast iron railing running along the upper balcony of the Marshal's office, its ornamental scrollwork worn smooth by decades of institutional neglect. The railing bears fresh gouges where Ky forcibly pinned the guard before cuffing him, the iron's brittleness yielding to the struggle. Ky's weight left the metal slightly warped, the bend permanent against the railing's original lines. When Stubbs later presses against it for cover, the vibrations carry the sound of approaching boots up the metal, turning the railing into an unwitting alarm system.

Purpose
To demarcate secure perimeters and restrict ground-level access to high-security zones without occluding visibility or creating physical barricades.
Significance
Functions as a point of narrative tension where institutional protocols fail; its mere existence as a barrier implies safety, but Sarah’s breach exposes its inadequacy against deliberate human action, catalyzing the shift from surveillance to direct confrontation.
