UNIT Temporary Confinement Cell

A stark holding area within UNIT HQ, repurposed for immediate detention. Its cinderblock walls bear the chipped paint of utilitarian design, the air thick with institutional disuse. Yates shoves the Doctor inside with practiced force, the metal door groaning shut under Benton’s fabricated lock. A simple metal-framed folding cot with a thin mattress that buckles unevenly under weight, issued to detainees in the holding area. Its edges show scuff marks from repeated use, and the olive-drab fabric straps securing the simple metal legs flex slightly when stepped on. Vertical iron bars crisscross the windows, spaced to prevent escape while allowing minimal light and ventilation. The bars appear darkened from institutional neglect yet retain their sharp edges, recently barred by Benton under Yates' orders. Nestled in the corner, a rust-streaked radiator clanks in irregular bursts, the only sound besides the muted hum of distant machinery beyond the threshold.

Purpose

Temporary confinement for detainees pending interrogation or transfer

Significance

Symbolizes UNIT's moral decay under Grover's influence, where institutional loyalty fractures for political expediency. Benton's later sabotage of the lock becomes the physical catalyst for the Doctor's freedom and the Brigade's mutiny.
