Sealing Wax

A blob of reddish sealing wax, pliable under Solon’s thumb before it stiffens to form an unbroken crust over the envelope’s flap. The wax darkens as Condo presses it with a small brass stamp, leaving the faint impression of a crest Solon never lets anyone see clearly. It clings to the parchment even when Solon’s fingers tremble, a tactile guarantee that the letter will stay shut until Condo delivers it to the Sisterhood—if Condo dares.

Significance

Becomes a tool of Solon’s control: each press of wax binds Condo to secrecy and enforces the time-critical relay of the letter, advancing Solon’s plan to thwart the Doctor.
