Rough iron bands, cold and unyielding, clamp around Idmon’s wrists and ankles with brutal efficiency. Their inner surfaces bear faint scratches from prior uses, and the metal darkens where blood has pooled and dried over time. The bands’ hinges catch the dim light of the Citadel, their clamps secured by a lock Rask tests with a cruel twist of his wrist.
