A sheet of thin, reflective silver foil clings to the surface of the Rehabilitation Unit’s Trasnmogrifier device, its metallic sheen catching the dull emergency lighting. Quillam and Dax use it to peel back portions of the machine during Peri and Areta’s crisis, revealing the warped bodies beneath. The foil’s brittle surface tears slightly when pulled taut, snapping back into place as the Doctors work against the machine’s lethal transformations.

Doctor halts Quillam transmogrification procedure

The silver foil covering the Transmogrifier is peeled back by Quillam and Dax to reveal Peri and Areta’s warping bodies, functioning as a clinical curtain hiding the experiment’s grotesque effects. It becomes a visual and narrative device exposing the victims’ trauma while the foil’s brittle resistance symbolizes the fragility of institutional control and the thin barrier between life and irreversible mutilation.

Before: Intact, used to conceal the warped bodies of Peri and Areta from casual observation.

After: Torn during Quillam’s clampdown, revealing the victims’ agonized transformations to the Doctor and other observers.
