The brass mechanism handle is ripped from the back of the Trophy Room Lift by Josiah’s spasming hands and used to seal the lower observatory, becoming both an instrument of control and a symbol of his waning power, its removal stripping the lift’s functionality immediately.

Before: Affixed to the lift control panel, locked in position by Josiah to prevent upward movement.

After: Removed and discarded, rendering the lift temporarily inoperable and stranding passengers inside.

Doctor and Ace witness Josiah’s transformation

Josiah’s Mechanism Control Handle is violently wrenched free of its position on the Trophy Room Lift’s control panel by Josiah himself. The brass handle, once locked horizontally to seal the lower observatory, now dangles inert in his hand as he declares Control’s prison final.

Before: Locked horizontally on the lift’s control mechanism, engaged to seal off vertical movement to the lower observatory. Its enforced position reflected Josiah’s failing but still asserted control over the house’s systems and their supernatural occupants.

After: Detached entirely, now clutched in Josiah’s weakening grip. The handle’s absence immediately compromises the lift’s restricted function, a mechanism of sealing now reduced to a signaling prop in Josiah’s rapidly deteriorating plans.
