The collapsing time vortex around the Fourth Doctor is the environmental hazard threatening to erase him from history. Borusa seizes control of the Technology by diverting spare energy to stabilize this hostile zone, choosing to freeze him within it rather than risk total mission failure. The vortex’s writhing plasma visibly shifts as the energy infusion momentarily contains its destructiveness.

Before: Active and uncontrollable, rapidly draining the Fourth Doctor and Romana’s temporal integrity while starving other systems.

After: Partially stabilized near the Doctor’s location, energy redirected and drained accordingly.
