The ray lamps in Section Four’s food bay serve as the targeted power source slated for shutdown to stabilize the energy surge. While their glow is unseen here, Caris’s directive ensures they will be extinguished, temporarily darkening the grow bay and inadvertently creating a brief window of vulnerability Meglos exploits seconds later.

Before: Fully powered, casting high-intensity artificial spectrum to support hydroponic growth in the food bay.

After: Extinguished by the swift-running savant, contributing to a three-second blackout that fails to fully suppress the surge but succeeds in masking Meglos’s ambush.
