Sacred Black Orchid of the Kojabe Indians

A withered, somber black orchid plucked from the sacred groves of the Kojabe Indians, its petals like dried leather and its center a striated column of darkness. Lady Cranleigh identifies it as the tribal symbol that compelled ritual mutilation—its very presence in ritual caused the tormented memory to resurface, driving the Kojabe to scar George’s tongue and sear his mind. The orchid’s withered state contrasts with the terror it still commands decades later.
