Grendel's Pursuing Guards

A contingent of Grendel's armed guards in dark uniforms, their armor marked with the insignia of his force. They pursue the Doctor and Romana on horseback through the forest, swords drawn and faces set in grim determination. K9 cuts down several of them to clear the escape path, their bodies falling as Romana and the Doctor flee bareback. Their numbers and ferocity amplify the desperation of the chase.

Pursuing guards are encountered both before Romana’s arrival and after her escape begins. Initially alerted by Grendel’s bounty, they are cut down by K9 during the escape, clearing the path for the fleeing pair. Their presence and sudden removal mark key beats in the chaotic chase.

Before: Deployed in pursuit of the Doctor throughout the Pavilion grounds and wooded perimeter.
After: Most are incapacitated by K9’s defensive assault, ending their pursuit.

The contingent of Grendel’s armored guards pivot from defensive lines to aggressive pursuit. Swords drawn, they pour from the Pavilion’s edges into the wooded lanes, adding clanking menace to the hoofbeats and accelerating the hunt’s desperation.
