Xoanon Shrine Couches

Low, cushioned seating arranged in the Xoanon Shrine's ritual space for supplicants and observers. Their fabric is dark and worn from repeated kneeling and leaning forward by supplicants during extended periods of meditation or prayer. The Doctor later form their kneeling posture during his attempts to rouse Neeva’s trance, using the firm support to position himself close to her body as he tries to break the mental grip of Xoanon’s commands.

The Xoanon Shrine couches serve as the physical locus of Neeva’s collapse. She sits on one in a trance, then falls backward across its cushioned surface when overwhelmed by interrogation. The couches support her unconscious form, elevating the Doctor’s proximity as he kneels beside her in an attempt to break the mental grip of the transmission.
