A rectangular metal hatch set into the spaceship's ceiling, its unadorned surface marked by the struggles of its brief use. Chima pries it open in his final moments with desperate strength, forcing it wide enough for Gavrok to fall through into the void. The hatch groans under the sudden pressure, its hinges protesting as Delta watches Delta's body slump against it moments later. Its exposed position makes it the only viable escape route, sealed shut behind Chima's dying body as the last act of defiance in a cramped death trap.

The escape hatch becomes the threshold of life and death as Chima uses it to expel Gavrok from the ship.
