A precarious tower of stapled folders and loose sheaves, their faded colored tabs marking timestamps and subject codes from Dexeter’s marsh-child experiments. The Doctor shoves them violently aside mid-operation, creating a gap just wide enough for him to plant himself between Dexeter and the tormented creature. The files’ yellowing edges fray where they’ve been thumbed through by tired Deciders and Adric; their contents are rendered irrelevant when Romana’s latent power erupts—turning Dexeter into a broken instrument rather than a man to be judged by documents.
