The Doctor halts work on a wall-mounted scanner—its screen frozen with starlight patterns from Gallifrey lore—and abruptly repurposes the device. Using salvaged components from Fendelman's lab, including a cracked control panel and loose wiring exposed by the Fendahl's recent power drain, he hastily reroutes power through a jury-rigged circuit. With only seconds to spare, he configures the machine to exploit the gestalt's vulnerability, its alarm blaring once before Martha powers down the unnecessary systems.
