An ordinary domestic canine whose presence in Woodhouse Avenue draws the Doctor’s immediate suspicion. Alert and reactive to its owner’s commands, it becomes an unwitting symptom of the town’s mounting dread. The Doctor’s abrupt shout to depart reflects nothing personal about the animal—rather, the creature’s arrival signals that the encroaching peril (later revealed in Perivale) has begun to animate even mundane life. In this moment, Dog embodies the collateral disturbance of an otherwise peaceful neighborhood transformed into a staging ground for supernatural forces.
