The Faceless Ones Part 2

The Doctor and his companions must uncover a sinister plot involving Chameleon Youth Tours, missing passengers, and body-snatching aliens at Gatwick Airport, all while evading the authorities who wrongly suspect them of murder.

The Doctor, along with Polly and Jamie, arrive at Gatwick Airport and quickly find themselves embroiled in a perplexing mystery. After witnessing a murder, Polly is replaced by a doppelganger who claims not to know them, leading the Doctor and Jamie to become fugitives, suspected of being illegal entrants. They encounter Ben, a friend, who helps them evade the authorities while they try to understand what's happening.

The Doctor's investigation uncovers a suspicious travel agency called Chameleon Youth Tours, which seems connected to the strange events. He deduces that something sinister is afoot when he learns that the chameleon is an animal that changes its appearance. Meanwhile, at a hidden medical facility within the airport, aliens are transferring their identities into human bodies, including that of George Meadows, an Air Traffic Controller, in a bid to infiltrate and control key positions.

Polly's double, Michelle, works at a Chameleon Tours kiosk, while the real Polly is being held captive in a packing case. A woman named Samantha Briggs arrives searching for her missing brother, Brian, who went on one of Chameleon Tours' trips. Jamie tries to help Samantha, suspecting a connection between her brother's disappearance and the travel agency's shady activities. The Doctor attempts to convince the Commandant of the danger, but is dismissed and further pursued by airport security.

Ben investigates Chameleon Tours' hangar, where he discovers the catatonic Polly along with other packing cases. He attempts to contact the Commandant but is intercepted and incapacitated by Spencer, an alien operative. The Doctor sees this on a monitor in the Chameleon Tours office and learns the aliens are attempting to dispose of Ben's body. Meanwhile, Inspector Crossland investigates the disappearance of Detective Inspector Gascoigne, and questions Jenkins at the immigration desk, who remembers the Doctor and Jamie's earlier run-in with the authorities.

As the aliens prepare to execute their plan, the Doctor, Jamie, and Samantha work to expose the truth behind Chameleon Youth Tours, rescue their friends, and stop the aliens before they replace more humans, spreading their influence.

Act 1

The narrative opens at Gatwick Airport, where the Doctor and Jamie face an unsettling encounter at immigration. Polly, or rather her doppelganger Michelle, denies any knowledge of them, presenting a Swiss passport and a work permit. This immediate deception establishes the central mystery and brands the Doctor and Jamie as illegal entrants, forcing them to flee the authorities. Simultaneously, within a hidden medical facility, the alien transfer process is depicted with chilling efficiency as an alien entity assumes the identity of Air Traffic Controller George Meadows. This scene visually confirms the nature of the threat. Hiding amidst the concourse, the Doctor deduces the sinister implications of 'Chameleon Youth Tours,' connecting the animal's ability to change appearance to a human-level deception. Their friend Ben arrives, offering a vital lifeline and a temporary refuge from the airport police. The Doctor then directly confronts Michelle at the Chameleon Tours kiosk, his probing questions confirming his suspicion that she is not the real Polly, but a replacement. Michelle's subsequent dismissal by Blade for her failure to maintain the deception further solidifies the alien conspiracy. With the initial threat identified and their fugitive status cemented, the Doctor, Ben, and Jamie strategically separate, each taking on a specific investigative task: Ben to the hangar, the Doctor to the Commandant, and Jamie to observe Michelle. This division of labor sets the stage for deeper infiltration and the inevitable escalation of danger.

Act 2

Act Two intensifies the investigation and deepens the conspiracy as new characters and revelations emerge. Samantha Briggs, a determined woman from Liverpool, arrives at the Chameleon Tours kiosk, desperately searching for her brother Brian, who vanished on one of their trips. Her frustrated interaction with Michelle exposes the travel agency's callous indifference and deceptive practices regarding missing passengers, hinting at a wider pattern of disappearances. Jamie, overhearing Samantha's plight, offers his assistance, drawing her into the unfolding mystery and providing the Doctor's team with a new, motivated ally. Meanwhile, the Doctor attempts to alert the Commandant to the airport's grave danger, but his warnings are dismissed as the ravings of a 'hoaxer,' leading to his renewed pursuit by airport security. This official skepticism highlights the aliens' successful infiltration and the Doctor's isolation. The stakes dramatically escalate when Ben, investigating the Chameleon Tours hangar, discovers the real Polly, catatonic and imprisoned within a packing case, confirming the horrifying reality of the body-snatching operation. His subsequent attempt to contact the Commandant is brutally interrupted by Spencer, an alien operative, who incapacitates Ben with a mysterious pen-shaped device. The Doctor witnesses this chilling event on a monitor, transforming the abstract threat into an immediate, personal crisis. Concurrently, Detective Inspector Crossland, investigating the disappearance of his colleague Gascoigne, begins to piece together clues at the immigration desk, learning about the 'scruffy-looking man' and 'Scots boy' who spoke of a body in a hangar, inadvertently closing in on the Doctor and Jamie. The act concludes with the Doctor learning of the aliens' intent to dispose of Ben's body, leaving him acutely aware of the mortal danger his friends face and the increasing pressure from both alien and human adversaries.

Act 3

The final act plunges the Doctor into a desperate race against time as the alien plot accelerates towards its execution. Alone in the now-empty Chameleon Tours cubicle, the Doctor processes Ben's incapacitation, discovering Spencer's pen-shaped weapon and deducing its function. His investigation of the monitor reveals the medical center and hangar, solidifying his understanding of the aliens' methods and locations. The airport tannoy announces the imminent departure of Chameleon Youth Tours flight 413 to Zurich, signaling the aliens' plan for mass infiltration and emphasizing the urgency of the situation. On the concourse, Ann Davidson, a uniformed alien operative, prepares passengers for the Zurich flight by distributing pre-stamped postcards. Samantha, observing this, brilliantly connects it to the postcard she received from her missing brother, Brian, realizing the aliens' deceptive communication method. This revelation confirms the systematic nature of the disappearances and provides a crucial piece of evidence. Jamie and Samantha, now fully aware of the conspiracy, decide to find the Doctor to share their discovery, but their attempt is thwarted when Detective Inspector Crossland intercepts Jamie, further isolating the Doctor. Simultaneously, the Doctor's continued investigation in the hangar leads him to a packing case, inside which he discovers the original human George Meadows, catatonic. This grim discovery is immediately followed by Spencer's disembodied cry for help, indicating a malfunction or vulnerability within the alien ranks. The act closes with the Doctor possessing critical new information about the aliens' weakness, but facing overwhelming odds: Ben is incapacitated, Jamie is apprehended, and the aliens are on the verge of executing their plan, leaving the Doctor as the sole immediate agent of resistance.
