The Dominators Part 4

The Doctor and his companions must thwart the Dominators' plan to extract the planet's radioactive core, as the Dominators subjugate the local population for their exploitation, while Jamie and Cully mount a resistance.

The episode opens with the aftermath of the Dominators' destruction, as the Doctor expresses concern for Jamie's safety. Tensions flare between Dominators Rago and Toba regarding Toba's excessive destruction, which jeopardizes their mission due to low power levels. Rago assigns Toba the task of clearing the central bore position, while the Doctor and Zoe are held captive. Rago questions Toba's competence, leading to a power struggle, with Rago ultimately subduing Toba and enlisting the Doctor and Zoe's help. Meanwhile, Jamie and Cully, having survived the explosion, find refuge in a bomb shelter and plot to undermine the Dominators' operations.

Inside the Dominator ship, Rago interrogates the Doctor about the planet's leader, Senex, and the Dulcian travel machines. The Doctor cleverly misleads Rago, directing him to a non-functional capsule to divert his attention while Zoe expresses concern for Jamie's welfare. Back at the drilling site, Toba is tasked with overseeing operations, while Rago examines the crashed travel capsule, unaware of the Doctor and Zoe's whispering about Jamie and Cully's possible survival.

Jamie and Cully emerge from the shelter and, after evading the Quarks, strategize an attack to disrupt the Dominators. They estimate the strength of the enemy and begin guerilla tactics, throwing rocks to distract the Quarks. Meanwhile, aboard the Dominator ship, Toba receives news of a destroyed Quark and departs to investigate, inadvertently creating an opportunity for the Doctor and Zoe to examine the power unit of the ship. They discover that the Dominators are storing radioactive material, indicating their purpose for drilling.

At the drilling site, Toba interrogates Balan about the destroyed Quark, but Balan professes ignorance. Infuriated, Toba orders the Quarks to search the island, unaware of Jamie and Cully's involvement. Rago arrives in the Council Chamber and confronts the Dulcian council, demanding information and slaves. When the council voices protest, Rago orders the execution of Tensa, demonstrating his ruthlessness and power. Meanwhile, Toba, frustrated by the lack of information, interrogates Kando and Teel, leading to Teel being targeted with a deadly weapon. With Kando about to crack, she claims Cully did it (even though he is thought dead by them) and Toba orders the women to help him find the boy Jamie.

Act 1

Dominator Rago opens the episode by vehemently confronting Probationer Toba, accusing him of reckless destruction that has depleted vital power reserves, jeopardizing their core mission. Rago asserts his superior rank through a public display of power, momentarily restraining Toba with a Quark before reassigning him to supervise the critical drilling operations. During this internal power struggle, the Doctor and Zoe remain captive within the Dominator saucer, their dialogue revealing deep concern for Jamie's fate, who was caught in Toba's previous destructive outburst. Simultaneously, Jamie and Cully are discovered alive, trapped within a subterranean bomb shelter. They face the immediate peril of suffocation due to blocked ventilation, but through their combined efforts, they manage to dislodge the debris and escape to the surface. The Doctor, leveraging his intelligence, begins a calculated deception of Rago, providing misleading information about the Dulcian leader, Senex, and directing Rago to a supposedly non-functional travel capsule. This strategic misdirection aims to divert Rago's attention and create an opportunity for the Doctor and Zoe to investigate the Dominator vessel, while Jamie and Cully's survival establishes a burgeoning resistance movement against the alien invaders.

Act 2

Having escaped the shelter, Jamie and Cully emerge into the ruins, immediately observing the pervasive presence of Quarks and the Dominators' ongoing drilling operations. They quickly formulate a plan for guerilla tactics, aiming to disrupt the enemy. Their strategy culminates in a successful, audacious attack where they dispatch a Quark by sending a large boulder over a cliff, creating a significant diversion. This opportune moment allows the Doctor and Zoe, still aboard the Dominator ship, to investigate its power unit. Their examination reveals a sophisticated storage unit for radioactive material, definitively exposing the Dominators' true purpose on Dulkis: the systematic extraction of the planet's radioactive core. The Dominators, meanwhile, escalate their oppressive measures. Rago confronts the Dulcian Council, demanding information and slaves, and ruthlessly executes Tensa to quell any dissent, demonstrating the brutal consequences of defiance. Concurrently, Toba, enraged by the destroyed Quark, conducts a brutal interrogation of the Dulcian workers Balan, Kando, and Teel. His violence leads to Teel's execution, forcing Kando, under duress, to implicate Cully as the attacker, thereby confirming the existence of a hostile, organized resistance to the Dominators.

Act 3

With the Dulcian Council thoroughly subjugated, Dominator Rago explicitly outlines his demand for a specific number of the strongest Dulcians to serve as slaves, threatening immediate annihilation for any non-compliance. He chillingly reveals the Dominators' expansive galactic war mission, explaining that the Dulcian population is needed to replace the Quarks as a workforce on their home planets, thereby freeing the Quarks for more aggressive combat roles across the galaxy. This declaration solidifies the Dominators' intent to exploit the entire species, not just its resources. Concurrently, Toba, having extracted the crucial information about Cully's involvement in the Quark's destruction through brutal interrogation, immediately orders an island-wide search by the remaining Quarks, specifically targeting Jamie and Cully. The act concludes with the Dominators' ruthless authority firmly established, the Dulcian population facing imminent enslavement and the destruction of their society, and Jamie and Cully now the primary, actively hunted targets of a relentless pursuit. This leaves their immediate fate hanging precariously, with the stakes for the planet and its inhabitants heightened to a critical level as the Dominators prepare to fully implement their destructive and genocidal plan.
