The Invasion Part 3
The Doctor and Jamie, in pursuit of their captured friends Zoe and Isobel, find themselves caught in a deadly game of cat and mouse with the ruthless industrialist Vaughn, who seeks the secrets of the Doctor's time-traveling machine for his own nefarious purposes.
Following Zoe and Isobel's disappearance, the Doctor and Jamie trace them to a warehouse, unaware it's a trap orchestrated by the powerful industrialist, Vaughn. Vaughn feigns cooperation, claiming the women have already left, but Jamie saw them taken away in crates. The Doctor and Jamie eventually agree to accompany Vaughn to his factory, but the Brigadier, suspicious of Vaughn's actions, orders UNIT to discreetly track them. Vaughn's true intentions become clear when he expresses interest in the Doctor's advanced technology and reveals that Zoe's computer skills disrupted his operations.
At the factory, the Doctor and Jamie are introduced to Professor Watkins, a scientist coerced by Vaughn to develop a new kind of "teaching machine." Vaughn uses Watkins' niece, Isobel, as leverage to force his cooperation. The Doctor, sensing Vaughn's dishonesty, attempts to dissuade Watkins from working with him. The Doctor discovers a deep-space radio communication system hidden within the facility, raising suspicions about Vaughn's ultimate goals.
Vaughn monitors the Doctor's conversations, discovering the Doctor's origins and his machine. Learning that the Doctor has been ordered to be destroyed by Vaughn's allies, Vaughn decides to take matters into his own hands, wanting the secrets of the Doctor's machine for himself. When the Doctor interferes with Vaughn's surveillance, Vaughn threatens Zoe. Refusing to allow Zoe to be harmed, the Doctor pretends to acquiesce to Vaughn's demands but uses the opportunity to escape with Jamie in a lift.
The Doctor sabotages the lift, stranding them between floors. They climb out of the top of the lift to escape, using an emergency exit, but Vaughn orders the facility locked down. They climb down a fire escape, then hide in a freight car, suspecting it might be the same train Zoe and Isobel were transported on. As Vaughn’s men begin to search the trains, the Doctor and Jamie are forced to hide, knowing they are running out of time.
