The Invasion Part 2
When the Doctor and Jamie are pursued by UNIT, led by Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, they reluctantly join forces to investigate the mysterious International Electromatics, unaware that their friends Zoe and Isobel are already caught in Vaughn's dangerous web.
The Doctor and Jamie find themselves pursued by UNIT, led by Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, an old acquaintance from their Yeti encounter. After a brief chase and capture, the Brigadier reveals that UNIT, the United Nations Intelligence Taskforce, has been monitoring International Electromatics (IE) due to people disappearing after visiting the company. He explains IE achieved a major breakthrough in micro-monolithic circuits headed by Tobias Vaughn. During the briefing, the Brigadier points to pictures of individuals known to have entered IE headquarters, but never emerged including the missing Professor Watkins.
Meanwhile, Zoe and Isobel, concerned about The Doctor and Jamie’s whereabouts, track them to IE headquarters. They try to gain information from the automated receptionist, but after receiving no useful answers Zoe uses her genius intellect to re-program the machine. Her actions trigger an alarm alerting Vaughn to their presence and they are seized by IE security.
Back at UNIT headquarters, it is uncovered that Jamie recognized a truck driver who dropped them off earlier that day. The driver has gone missing, with his overdue report confirming something sinister surrounds IE. It is also revealed that Vaughn's IE controls nearly all major computer lines putting their micro-monolithic circuits in everything. The Doctor learns that Vaughn has too many powerful people on his side, which prevents the Brigadier from conducting a full search of IE Headquarters. Undeterred, The Doctor and Jamie vow to locate Watkins but just as they are about to leave the Brigadier offers them a small transceiver to enable them to keep in contact.
Believing their friends may be at IE headquarters, The Doctor and Jamie discover a note that Zoe and Isobel have gone to the company’s offices to investigate. Once outside the building, The Doctor contacts the Brigadier. The Brigadier and his men confirm two young women, one wearing a feather boa, have recently entered the building. Once inside IE, the pair try to discover what the company secret is. After bypassing the external security, The Doctor and Jamie follow a railway track leading into the back of IE headquarters and into a warehouse. There, they find mysterious containers being moved but before they can analyze their finding, they are spotted by Vaughn’s security cameras.
In Vaughn's office, the IE head discusses the two humanoids he saw earlier. The Planners, connected via a secret panel, identify the Doctor and Jamie as hostile due to a Planet 14 connection and demand their destruction. While Vaughn speaks to the AI, Zoe and Isobel are dragged into his office. Vaughn attempts to manipulate Isobel into persuading her missing uncle, Professor Watkins, to continue his work for IE. Vaughn orders Packer to take them away as the Doctor and Jamie have been spotted on security cameras.

The narrative beats that drive the story
The episode commences with the Doctor and Jamie's flight through London streets, pursued and ultimately captured by UNIT agents, including Benton and Tracy. Concurrently, Zoe and Isobel, growing increasingly anxious about the Doctor and Jamie's disappearance, engage in conversation about their friends' unusual mode of travel and Isobel's burgeoning photography career. Their apprehension solidifies into a decision to actively search for the missing pair, prompting them to leave a message and depart. In a parallel development, Tobias Vaughn, the formidable leader of International Electromatics, reviews security images of the Doctor and Jamie, classifying them as unwelcome intruders. The Doctor and Jamie are subsequently transported to a covert UNIT facility, where they encounter Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, now elevated in rank. The Brigadier elucidates UNIT's covert operation: monitoring International Electromatics due to a pattern of individuals entering the building and never reappearing. He informs the Doctor that he recognized him from surveillance footage captured outside IE headquarters, thus forging an unexpected and necessary alliance between them. This initial act effectively establishes the immediate peril facing the Doctor and Jamie, introduces the United Nations Intelligence Taskforce and its critical investigative mandate, and propels Zoe and Isobel into their own independent and increasingly dangerous quest. The Brigadier's exposition serves as the inciting incident, clearly defining the central mystery and the antagonists.

Zoe and Isobel arrive at the International Electromatics headquarters, encountering an automated receptionist. Zoe, frustrated by the machine's unhelpfulness, uses her advanced knowledge of ALGOL to reprogram and ultimately disable it, causing an explosion. This act alerts Vaughn, who immediately orders their capture. In his office, Vaughn communicates with "The Planners," alien entities who identify the Doctor and Jamie as hostile from "Planet 14" and demand their destruction, revealing a deeper, extraterrestrial threat. Meanwhile, the Brigadier continues his briefing with the Doctor and Jamie, presenting evidence of other missing individuals and confirming that their truck driver contact, a UNIT agent, is overdue. He explains Vaughn's extensive influence and IE's dominance in micro-monolithic circuit technology, highlighting the company's impenetrable power. Unable to secure a search warrant, the Doctor and Jamie resolve to investigate IE independently. The Brigadier provides them with a transceiver for communication. Returning to Travers' house, the Doctor and Jamie discover Zoe and Isobel's note indicating they went to IE offices. The Doctor then examines Jamie's radio, discovering it contains an IE micro-monolithic circuit, confirming the widespread nature of Vaughn's technology and the immediate danger to their friends.

Vaughn confronts Zoe and Isobel in his office, attempting to coerce Isobel into influencing her missing uncle, Professor Watkins, to cooperate with IE. As this manipulation unfolds, the Doctor and Jamie arrive outside the IE building, using the transceiver provided by the Brigadier to confirm Zoe and Isobel's entry into the premises. Despite the inherent danger, they decide to infiltrate the building. The Brigadier, recognizing the Doctor's unique abilities, allows them to proceed alone, trusting his capacity to find a way in. The Doctor and Jamie bypass external security and follow a railway track that leads them into a large warehouse at the rear of IE headquarters. Inside, they observe black-uniformed men moving unusually heavy, eight-foot metal containers, indicating a clandestine operation. Concurrently, Vaughn engages in a tense exchange with "The Planners," asserting his authority over the Earth operation while they reiterate the Doctor's threat and the necessity of the invasion's success. Security cameras then detect the Doctor and Jamie within the warehouse. Seizing this opportunity, Vaughn orders Packer to close off the area and bring Zoe and Isobel to the warehouse, intending to use them as bait to capture the Doctor and Jamie. This act culminates in a perilous trap, leaving the Doctor and Jamie cornered and their friends imperiled, setting a clear cliffhanger for the next installment.
