The Seeds of Death Part 3

When the Doctor, Zoe, and Jamie arrive at Moonbase, they discover the base has been overtaken by Ice Warriors who plan to use the T-Mat system to spread deadly seeds across Earth, threatening global famine.

The Doctor, along with his companions Zoe and Jamie, arrive in a rocket near Moonbase, responding to an emergency signal. Zoe explains their orbit dooms them to destruction in the sun. The distress call from Moonbase warns of an alien invasion. They make contact with Phipps at Moonbase, who explains that aliens have taken over. The Doctor identifies them as Ice Warriors from Mars. The Ice Warriors aim to use the T-Mat system for an invasion of Earth. They subdue personnel like Kelly and Fewsham, the latter forced to cooperate. Radnor at Earth Control lacks information on the situation. The Doctor and his companions need to land on the Moon to stop them

The Doctor guides the rocket towards Moonbase, relying on Phipps' weakening signal. They crashes when the signal drops. He plans to rescue, Phipps, while Zoe and Jamie work on refueling. The Doctor discovers Phipps, learning that Fewsham is collaborating with the Ice Warriors. Their plan? Sabotage T-Mat to prevent the invasion.

Back in T-Mat control room, Fewsham activates T-Mat, as the Ice Warriors plan to dispatch cargo to Earth. Zoe and Jamie find that the rocket is now useless and now have to find The Doctor. When the Grand Marshal orders to prepare, the Doctor attempts to sabotage the device, but is caught. He tries to persuade Slaar, the Ice Warrior leader, of his value and is spared. Zoe, Jamie, Phipps, and Kelly group together, forming a resistance. An Ice Warrior walks in on them, but the group take advantage of wires and solar box to take it out. Radnor in Earth Control notes the critical situation due to the T-Mat breakdown. An Ice Warrior carry one of the seed pods to the T-Mat cubicle.

The Doctor directs Fewsham to sabotage the transmission, but only helps when the Doctor threatens to do it himself. The Warrior spots him and alerts the commander. The pod expands and releases particles, incapacitating the Doctor. They carry him away as the Ice Warriors resume their plans to transmit the seeds to Earth via T-Mat. The episode ends with one of the seed pods about to be sent to London as transmitted by Fewsham.

Act 1

The episode opens with the Doctor, Zoe, and Jamie adrift in a rocket, facing imminent destruction from the sun. Their dire situation is interrupted by a distress call from Phipps at Moonbase, reporting an alien invasion. The Doctor identifies the invaders as Ice Warriors, a reptilian species from Mars, confirming their intent to find a new home, with the Moon serving as a strategic stepping stone. Despite Phipps' urgent warnings against landing, the Doctor, unable to contact Earth or return due to insufficient fuel, determines they must land on Moonbase to intervene. Guiding the rocket with Phipps' intermittent signal, they endure a perilous descent, culminating in a rough landing that leaves the craft potentially damaged. Upon landing, the Doctor, driven by a sense of responsibility, decides to venture into the compromised Moonbase alone to find Phipps. He instructs Zoe and Jamie to refuel the rocket, a task Zoe quickly discovers is futile as the rocket's motors are completely useless from the landing impact. This revelation leaves Zoe and Jamie stranded, forcing them to abandon the rocket and seek out the Doctor, shifting their immediate objective from escape to rescue and direct confrontation with the alien threat. This initial act establishes the immediate peril, the Doctor's proactive nature, and the unexpected complications that force a change in strategy, setting the stage for direct engagement with the Ice Warriors.

Act 2

Following his solo infiltration, the Doctor locates Phipps in the Solar Energy Store Room, learning of technician Fewsham's forced collaboration with the Ice Warriors. Recognizing the grave threat posed by the T-Mat system, the Doctor immediately resolves to destroy it, a plan Phipps reluctantly accepts. Meanwhile, Zoe and Jamie, having discovered their rocket's irreparable damage, are forced to abandon their original plan of escape and set out to find the Doctor within the labyrinthine Moonbase corridors, navigating unfamiliar territory and narrowly avoiding Ice Warrior patrols. The Doctor's attempt to reach T-Mat control is interrupted when he and Phipps encounter an Ice Warrior holding Kelly captive. The Doctor creates a diversion, leading the Warrior on a chase through mirrored panels before being cornered. Displaying his cunning, the Doctor bluffs his way out of immediate execution by claiming to be a 'genius' and potentially useful to the Ice Warriors, much like Fewsham, prompting Slaar, the Ice Warrior leader, to spare him for interrogation. This leads to the Doctor being brought directly into the T-Mat control room, where he observes the Ice Warriors preparing an opaque container of 'seeds' for transmission to Earth. He subtly pressures Fewsham to help him investigate the mysterious cargo. Simultaneously, Kelly, Phipps, Zoe, and Jamie converge in the Solar Energy Store Room, forming an unexpected resistance group. They uncover the Ice Warriors' critical weakness to heat and devise a plan to activate the base's heating system via maintenance tunnels to incapacitate the invaders. Kelly also reveals she has repaired T-Mat, adding another layer of urgency and potential escape. The Doctor, still in the control room, makes a desperate move to inspect the seed container, threatening Fewsham to assist him. As he opens it, a seed pod rapidly expands, pops, and releases incapacitating particles, causing the Doctor to collapse, leaving him vulnerable and the Ice Warriors' plan seemingly unchecked.

Act 3

With the Doctor incapacitated and the Ice Warriors resuming their plans, the newly formed resistance group—Zoe, Jamie, Phipps, and Kelly—finds themselves in immediate danger when an Ice Warrior discovers their hiding place in the Solar Energy Store Room. Demonstrating quick thinking and resourcefulness, they swiftly reconnect Phipps' improvised booby trap, using the solar energy power line to electrocute and eliminate the approaching Warrior, securing their temporary safety. This small victory underscores their growing determination and ability to fight back. In the T-Mat Moonbase Control room, the Ice Warrior commander, Slaar, orders Fewsham to prepare a seed pod for immediate transmission to London, initiating the final phase of their global invasion. Simultaneously, on Earth, Commander Radnor at Earth Control receives grim computer reports detailing widespread famine and critical food shortages across major cities, emphasizing the catastrophic consequences if T-Mat remains inoperable or is misused. This global context heightens the stakes, revealing the true scale of the Ice Warriors' threat. The episode culminates in a tense sequence as Fewsham, under duress, activates the T-Mat system. The seed pod, poised on its elegant stand, vanishes from the cubicle, successfully transmitted to London. The episode concludes on this chilling cliffhanger, with the Ice Warriors' deadly plan now actively underway, leaving Earth vulnerable and the Doctor's fate uncertain.
