The Ark in Space Part 2

As space travelers Harry and the Doctor revive cryogenically frozen humans on a satellite, they unravel a sinister plot by the crew to preserve humanity, threatened by an alien presence.

The story begins with Harry and the Doctor exploring a cryogenic chamber on a satellite, where they find a deceased alien creature and a pod containing a woman, Vira, who is revived. They soon discover that the satellite is an Ark designed to preserve human life after the destruction of Earth. The crew, led by Commander Noah, plans to revive a select group of humans and maintain a controlled environment to ensure their survival. However, Harry and the Doctor soon realize that the crew's intentions are not altruistic, and that they are hiding a dark secret. The Doctor and Harry must navigate the complex web of relationships between the crew members, including Vira, Noah, and Libri, to prevent a catastrophic outcome. As they try to help Sarah, a friend who was caught in the machinery, they uncover the truth about the Ark's purpose and the alien presence that has infiltrated the satellite. The crew's plan is to eliminate any potential threats to their genetic pool, including Harry and the Doctor, who are considered 'regressives.' The story takes a dramatic turn when Noah becomes increasingly unstable and begins to take extreme measures to achieve his goals, including shutting down the revivification program and eliminating any opposition. The Doctor and Harry must work together to stop Noah and prevent the destruction of the satellite and its inhabitants.

Act 1

Harry and the Doctor explore a cryogenic chamber on the Ark, a vast satellite designed to preserve human life after Earth's destruction. They revive Vira, a first med-tech, who introduces the Ark's purpose and the strict criteria for the 'chosen' survivors, dismissing Sarah, their injured friend, as an outsider. The Doctor discovers a mummified alien creature, which he deduces caused a massive system failure, disrupting the Ark's long-term dormancy and its 'alarm clock.' Vira proceeds to revive Commander Noah, the Ark's leader, who immediately views Harry and the Doctor as 'regressives' and a dangerous contamination to the Ark's carefully curated genetic pool. Noah's rigid adherence to the Ark's protocols and his suspicion of outsiders create immediate tension. The Doctor, suspecting a living entity in the main solar stack, attempts to shut it down to prevent further damage. Noah confronts the Doctor in the control room, accusing him of sabotage, and violently incapacitates him with a ray gun. This act of violence coincides with the alien organism breaking free from the solar stack, transforming the initial ideological conflict into an immediate, physical threat to the Ark and its inhabitants. The act establishes the Ark's precarious situation, the crew's rigid mindset, and the emerging danger from both within and without.

Act 2

The Doctor quickly recovers from Noah's stun gun attack, demonstrating his resilience, while Harry and Sarah express concern for the now-absent commander. The trio realizes Noah is in danger in the solar stacks and pursues him. Noah returns from the stacks, exhibiting erratic behavior and concealing his left hand, suggesting he has been affected or infected by the alien. His actions become increasingly unhinged as he orders the immediate shutdown of the revivification program, declaring 'No more aliens!' In a shocking revelation, Noah claims, 'I am Dune,' indicating the alien has not only escaped but has also parasitically taken over Technician Dune and subsequently Commander Noah himself. Meanwhile, Vira revives Libri, another crew member, who experiences a temporary neuro-ocular confusion, seeing 'something horrible,' further confirming the alien's presence and influence. The Doctor, connecting the missing technician Dune with a green membrane found in his pod and the empty egg tube of the giant insect, deduces the alien is a queen colonizer, using humans as hosts for its larvae. This chilling revelation clarifies the immediate and existential threat to the Ark and its remaining inhabitants, shifting the conflict from ideological disagreement to a desperate fight for survival against an insidious alien infiltration that has compromised their leadership.
