Act 1

This act opens with the dramatic reveal of the two saboteurs as Foamasi agents, exposing their plot to destabilize Argolis for the West Lodge. The Foamasi government representative establishes authority, arresting the criminals and detailing their systematic attempts to undermine the planet. However, this moment of resolution is immediately shattered by Pangol, who, driven by a deep-seated distrust of outsiders and a desire for Argolin resurgence, incapacitates Mena and seizes control. He prevents the Foamasi's departure, declaring them spies and asserting his new leadership, effectively plunging Argolis into a state of internal conflict. Pangol quickly moves to implement his vision, donning the sacred Helmet of Theron and proclaiming his intention to fulfill Theron's dreams of conquest by creating an army using the Recreation Generator. The Doctor, Romana, and Hardin recognize the imminent danger and scramble to counteract Pangol's plan. While Romana and Hardin attempt to modify the Tachyons, the Doctor risks a direct approach, planning to use the TARDIS's Randomiser within the Generator. Pangol, now fully empowered, begins the cloning process, generating multiple versions of himself. His escalating megalomania is further demonstrated when he destroys the departing Foamasi shuttle, declaring war and capturing Romana. The climax unfolds as the Doctor, having infiltrated the Generator, uses the Randomiser to project unstable tachyon images of himself disguised as Pangol clones, creating confusion and disrupting the nascent army. Simultaneously, Hardin bravely rescues the unconscious Mena, rushing her to the Generator for rejuvenation, believing it her only hope. The Doctor manipulates the Generator, setting it to rejuvenation, which causes a chaotic merging of Mena and Pangol's images on the sphere. In a decisive move, the Doctor hurls Theron's Helmet at the unstable sphere, causing it to explode. From the cabinet emerges a revitalized Mena, now holding a baby Pangol, symbolizing a new beginning and the cyclical nature of life. The resolution sees the reappearance of the Foamasi agent, who clarifies that the shuttle's destruction was an act by the escaping imposter, not a deliberate attack by Pangol. Mena, restored to her leadership and with a renewed sense of purpose, takes responsibility for the future of Argolis and the upbringing of the infant Pangol, signifying a return to peace and diplomacy. The Doctor and Romana, having successfully averted catastrophe, discuss the fate of the Randomiser and the ongoing threat of the Black Guardian before departing in the TARDIS, leaving Argolis to rebuild under Mena's guidance.
