Full Circle Part 1

The Doctor and Romana arrive on Gallifrey, only to find themselves caught up in the mysterious events of Mistfall, a phenomenon that threatens the planet and the Doctor's own timeline.

The Doctor, Romana, and K9 travel to Gallifrey, but their arrival is complicated by a malfunctioning Tardis that causes them to materialize in the wrong location. They soon discover that Gallifrey is on the brink of a catastrophic event known as Mistfall, which has been preceded by strange occurrences and sightings of unfamiliar insect life. As the Doctor and Romana try to understand what is happening, they encounter a group of teenagers, including Adric, who is trying to warn his friends about the impending disaster. The Doctor and Romana team up with Adric to navigate the complexities of Gallifrey's societal structure, including the roles of the Deciders and the Starliner. As Mistfall approaches, the Doctor and his companions must find a way to prevent or mitigate its effects, while also dealing with the consequences of their own actions and the revelations about the nature of time and space.

Act 1

The narrative opens with the Doctor and Romana, alongside K9, preparing for a mandated return to Gallifrey. Romana expresses profound reluctance, lamenting the end of her adventures beyond Gallifrey's confines. During their journey, the TARDIS experiences a severe, unexplained malfunction, losing control and shimmering violently. K9 reports an inability to assimilate received data, yet paradoxically, no system damage. The TARDIS materializes not in the familiar Gallifreyan wilderness, but a dense, unfamiliar forest. Simultaneously, the local inhabitants are introduced: a group of teenagers called Outlers, including Varsh, Tylos, and Keara, who attempt to steal river fruits from gatherers. Adric, an "Elite" recognized for his mathematical prowess, seeks to join the Outlers, facing skepticism and demands to prove himself. Meanwhile, Deciders Draith and Dexeter investigate peculiar, moving insect eggs discovered in the river fruits, connecting them to an impending, catastrophic event known as Mistfall, last observed five decades prior. Scientific discussions among Deciders Nefred and Garif confirm the unsettling nature of the "unfamiliar insect life" preceding these incidents. The central conflict ignites when the lake water begins to boil violently, forcing Decider Draith to declare the official onset of Mistfall, triggering widespread panic and an urgent evacuation among the populace. This event firmly establishes the immediate threat and sets the stage for the unfolding crisis.

Act 2

Immediately following the declaration of Mistfall, widespread panic grips the community as citizens rush towards the Starliner, a towering, crystalline vessel designed for evacuation. Adric, still determined to prove himself to the Outlers, attempts to retrieve fruits amidst the chaos but Decider Draith spots and pursues him. In their frantic chase, Adric inadvertently trips Draith, who falls into the violently boiling, muddy lake. An unseen force pulls Draith beneath the surface, but not before he delivers a cryptic final message to Adric: "Tell Dexeter we've come full circle." Inside the Starliner, Deciders Nefred and Garif enforce the strict evacuation protocol, sealing the massive doors. Citizen Login desperately pleads for his daughter, Keara, and other Outlers still outside, but the Deciders remain unyielding, emphasizing the law and the dire necessity of sealing the vessel. Simultaneously, the remaining Outlers—Varsh, Keara, and Tylos—retreat to their secluded cave, where they fiercely debate the authenticity of Mistfall, with Varsh clinging to the belief it is a myth propagated by the Deciders. Meanwhile, Adric, disoriented and injured from his escape, stumbles upon the Doctor's distinctive blue TARDIS in a forest clearing and collapses. The Doctor and Romana discover the unconscious boy, and after the Doctor tends to Adric's injured knee, Adric begins to recount his terrifying firsthand experience with Mistfall, providing crucial, ground-level information to the initially skeptical Time Lords.

Act 3

Within the TARDIS, Adric, now recovered, provides the Doctor and Romana with firsthand accounts of Mistfall, describing the boiling lake and the community's frantic evacuation. The Doctor, initially dismissive of Adric's claims as potential hallucinations or folk tales, becomes convinced of the immediate and tangible threat. While the Doctor shifts his attention to the unfolding crisis, Romana meticulously continues her analysis of the TARDIS's malfunctioning scanner. She uncovers a critical diagnostic error: the image translator reads only the absolute values of coordinates, creating a deceptive image of Gallifrey. Romana deduces that the earlier TARDIS disruption did not merely misplace them, but propelled them "out of real space" altogether, fundamentally altering their location and the nature of their predicament. This revelation escalates the mystery surrounding their arrival. Concurrently, a peculiar event occurs: Adric's injured knee, which the Doctor had just treated, miraculously heals completely, leaving behind only a clean, fresh scar through his torn trousers. This unexplained phenomenon introduces a new, enigmatic layer to Adric's character and the unfolding narrative. Driven by Adric's compelling testimony and the profound implications of Romana's discovery, the Doctor decides they must actively investigate the marsh where Mistfall began. Romana equips Adric with a homing device, ensuring he can navigate back to the TARDIS, as they prepare to venture out and directly confront the mysterious and dangerous Mistfall.
