Arc of Infinity Part 1

The Doctor faces an antimatter creature from another dimension that seeks to bond with him, while Time Lords on Gallifrey manipulate events to achieve their own agenda, threatening the Doctor's existence.

The screenplay 'Arc of Infinity - Part One' revolves around the Doctor and his companion Nyssa, who encounter an antimatter creature from another dimension. This creature, capable of immense power, seeks to bond with the Doctor, which would grant it existence in the Doctor's universe. Meanwhile, on Gallifrey, a Time Lord named Omega and another unnamed Time Lord orchestrate the transmission of the Doctor's biodata to facilitate the bonding process. They manipulate the situation to serve their purposes, involving the High Council and using the Matrix, a powerful tool for divination and decision-making. The Doctor, initially unaware of the threat, attempts to repair his TARDIS while dealing with the consequences of the creature's approach. As the story unfolds, the Doctor and Nyssa discover the creature's nature and its connection to the Arc of Infinity, a region devoid of stellar activity that can shield antimatter. The High Council, led by Lord President Borusa, becomes involved, understanding the grave threat the creature poses. They aim to prevent the bonding, aware it would have catastrophic implications for the Doctor and possibly the universe. The plot thickens as the Doctor is recalled to Gallifrey, only to find himself imprisoned and facing execution. Nyssa and the Doctor must navigate these complex threats, unravel the mystery behind the creature and the Time Lords' plans, and find a way to stop the bonding process. The screenplay explores themes of power, existence, and the ethical responsibilities of advanced beings.

Act 1

A shadowy Time Lord on Gallifrey conspires with Omega, a masked figure from another dimension, selecting the Doctor for a mysterious bonding process. Simultaneously, in a Gallifreyan computer room, Damon and Talor detect an unauthorized transmission of a Time Lord's biodata extract, recognizing it as treason. Unaware of these machinations, the Doctor and Nyssa engage in routine TARDIS repairs, their conversation establishing their current state of relative peace. On Earth, two backpackers, Frazer and Stuart, seek shelter in an Amsterdam crypt, setting up a parallel narrative thread. The Doctor's TARDIS converges with a massive magnetic radiation source, indicating the creature's approach. Omega confirms the TARDIS is under his control. The antimatter creature, appearing as a large red globe, materializes inside the TARDIS, attempting a "temporal bonding" with the Doctor, who collapses. Simultaneously, in the Amsterdam crypt, Frazer encounters a skeletal, bird-like figure emerging from a monument, which disintegrates him with a beam. The Doctor recovers; Nyssa confirms the creature is formed from antimatter, leading them to suspect a connection to his biodata. On Gallifrey, Talor is murdered by the conspirator Time Lord to cover the biodata transmission. The Doctor and Nyssa discover the "Arc of Infinity," a region shielding antimatter, as the creature's gateway, solidifying their understanding of the threat and its origins.

Act 2

Following the initial confrontation with the antimatter creature, the High Council on Gallifrey convenes. Lord President Borusa, Cardinal Zorac, Thalia, and Hedin confirm the creature's immense power and antimatter composition, acknowledging potential catastrophic implications for the Doctor if bonding were to succeed. They cannot pinpoint the creature's exact location due to temporal distortion but anticipate its shield will decay. Meanwhile, the Doctor and Nyssa, researching in the TARDIS data-bank, identify the "Arc of Infinity" as the intergalactic region capable of shielding antimatter, confirming it as the creature's entry point into their dimension. They deduce the creature requires the Doctor's detailed biological information, which only exists in the Matrix on Gallifrey, thus confirming a Time Lord's complicity. On Gallifrey, Commander Maxil, acting on orders, arrests Damon in the Computer Room and demands the Doctor's TARDIS be recalled to a secure compound, treating the Doctor as a criminal. Simultaneously, on Earth, Colin Frazer, now under the creature's control, attaches a horseshoe-shaped device to the crypt wall, causing Robin Stuart to flee in terror. The Doctor and Nyssa detect the TARDIS being forcibly recalled to Gallifrey, recognizing the urgency and unprecedented nature of the summons, which shifts their conflict from an external threat to a confrontation with his own people.

Act 3

The Doctor's TARDIS materializes within the security compound on Gallifrey, where Maxil's guards await. The Doctor and Nyssa find themselves locked inside, the doors secured by handprint activation from the outside, underscoring their sudden imprisonment. Maxil confirms the compound's security, maintaining his stance of simply following orders, despite Damon's inquiry into the Doctor's criminal treatment. Concurrently, on Earth, Robin Stuart enters a police station, attempting to report Colin's disappearance and the strange events at the crypt, but faces indifference. He then goes to a youth hostel, where he learns of a message for Colin, indicating his cousin's arrival at Schiphol Airport, a detail hinting at future complications for the Earth subplot. Back on Gallifrey, Nyssa expresses confusion over their imprisonment, believing the Time Lords should be seeking the Doctor's help against the antimatter creature. The Doctor, however, grimly suggests an "easier alternative" for the Time Lords: to kill him, thereby preventing the bonding and neutralizing the threat. Damon, monitoring their conversation from the records room, overhears this chilling realization. Acting on this newfound understanding of the Time Lords' potential intent, Damon presses a button, causing the compound doors to swing open, allowing the Doctor and Nyssa to escape their confinement. The Doctor acknowledges this was not his doing, recognizing it as an unexpected intervention.
