Act 1

The narrative opens with the Doctor trapped on Gallifrey, confronting Omega through a monitor. Omega, an anti-matter entity, holds Tegan captive on Earth, planning a consciousness transfer. Lord President Borusa and the Doctor strategize to stop Omega, who is revealed to be dependent on Hedin's help, now deceased. The Doctor, against Nyssa's protests and concern for his safety, enters the Matrix, a dangerous virtual reality, to extract Tegan's precise location. Inside the Matrix, Tegan, risking her life despite Omega's threats, provides crucial, fragmented clues: an "underground crypt," "behind a fountain," "Holland, Amsterdam," and the cryptic "JHC." Omega attempts to silence her violently, but the vital information is relayed. Back in the Council Chamber, Borusa confirms Amsterdam as the target. The immediate challenge shifts to enabling the Doctor's escape from Gallifrey, which is under Omega's stringent anti-matter surveillance. Borusa orchestrates a clever diversion using a "pulse loop" to overload and confuse Omega's monitoring systems, allowing the Doctor's TARDIS to depart undetected. The Doctor and Nyssa prepare their TARDIS and a specialized device designed to disrupt Omega's fusion booster, a critical component of his transfer process. The pulse loop successfully distracts Omega, causing a system overload on Gallifrey, enabling the TARDIS to dematerialize. The act concludes as the Doctor and Nyssa successfully land their TARDIS in Amsterdam, now free to pursue Omega directly on Earth.

Act 2

Upon materializing in Amsterdam, the Doctor and Nyssa immediately begin their search for Tegan and Omega. Relying on Tegan's cryptic "JHC" clue, the Doctor deduces it refers to "Jeugdherberg Central Youth Hostels" and begins a methodical, on-foot search of every hostel in the city, deeming the TARDIS too risky to use. This painstaking process highlights the urgency and the Doctor's resourcefulness. Meanwhile, on Gallifrey, Borusa refuses the Castellan's resignation, asserting the importance of learning from mistakes, while Damon reports Omega's transfer is imminent, showing Omega's physical deterioration. The Doctor and Nyssa face frustration and unhelpful receptionists until they reach Bob's Youth Hostel. There, a receptionist, after some prompting, recalls an Australian named Colin Frazer and a note left for "Miss Jovanka" (Tegan) by Stuart. The note reveals the precise location: Frankendael. This breakthrough galvanizes their pursuit. The Doctor and Nyssa race through the streets of Amsterdam, knowing time is short as Omega's anti-matter state rapidly destabilizes. They arrive at Frankendael House, quickly locating the crypt and identifying the "fusion booster" from Gallifrey. An Ergon, one of Omega's creations, attacks them. Nyssa, with the Doctor's instruction, seizes the Ergon's weapon and destroys it, saving the Doctor. The act culminates as they enter Omega's TARDIS, poised for a direct confrontation.

Act 3

Inside Omega's TARDIS, the Doctor confronts the increasingly unstable anti-matter entity. Omega, holding Tegan hostage, demands the Doctor drop his weapon. The Doctor complies but reveals his sabotage: the fusion booster explodes, disrupting Omega's transfer. Despite this, Omega declares success, removing his mask to reveal the Doctor's face, claiming a new life and threatening Gallifrey. The Doctor, however, recognizes the transfer is incomplete and unstable, predicting Omega's inevitable reversion to anti-matter. As Omega escapes, the Doctor frantically searches for a matter converter to destroy him permanently. Outside Frankendael House, Omega kills a gardener to steal his clothes, attempting to blend into the crowd. The Doctor, Tegan, and Nyssa realize the immense danger: Omega's unstable anti-matter form threatens a catastrophic explosion across the universe. They pursue him through the crowded streets of Amsterdam. Omega's body visibly reverts to anti-matter, causing panic among passers-by. The chase intensifies, with trams and raising bridges temporarily hindering the Doctor's pursuit. Finally, the Doctor corners Omega on a pier. Omega, consumed by a desire for universal destruction, refuses the Doctor's offer of expulsion, preferring to perish and take all with him. The Doctor, having reassembled the Ergon's weapon into a matter converter, makes the difficult choice and fires. Omega screams, explodes, and vanishes, his anti-matter source finally destroyed. On Gallifrey, Borusa laments Omega's unfortunate fate. The Doctor, Tegan, and Nyssa regroup. Tegan confirms Colin's recovery and reveals she lost her job, indicating she will remain with the Doctor and Nyssa, bringing the adventure to a close with a new companion dynamic.
