Terminus Part 1

Turlough, a rogue Time Lord, attempts to gain control of the TARDIS while the Doctor and his companions must navigate a space liner, Terminus, where lazars come to die, to escape a deadly fate.

The story begins with Turlough, a Time Lord, trying to manipulate the TARDIS to his advantage. He interacts with Tegan and Nyssa, causing tension and suspicion. As Turlough secretly works on the TARDIS, the Doctor and his companions discover his plan. Meanwhile, Nyssa works on an enzyme synthesis, and Adric's old quarters are introduced. Turlough's actions cause the TARDIS to malfunction, leading to dimensional instability and a skull motif appearing throughout the ship. The Doctor sends Nyssa through a door to safety while he and Tegan try to contain the situation. They soon find themselves on a space liner called Terminus, where they encounter raiders and a deadly atmosphere. As they navigate through the ship, they uncover the sinister purpose of Terminus: a place where lazars come to die. The Doctor and his companions must escape before the ship's sterilization procedures are triggered.

Act 1

Turlough, under the guidance of an unseen entity, secretly attempts to sabotage the TARDIS. He manipulates circuitry behind a roundel and tries to extract a critical component from the console, aiming to gain control. Tegan confronts Turlough, expressing her distrust and suspicion of his motives and actions, but he deflects her accusations with feigned innocence and dismissive charm. As Turlough continues his clandestine work, the TARDIS begins to malfunction violently, exhibiting alarming beeping, flashing lights, and a stalled time rotor. A hazy mist permeates the ship, signifying dimensional instability. A sinister skull motif appears, foreshadowing the impending danger. The Doctor and Tegan race to contain the crisis, but the situation rapidly deteriorates. Recognizing the immediate threat to Nyssa, the Doctor makes a desperate decision, sending her through an emergency door to an unknown destination, believing it her only chance of survival. This act establishes Turlough's treacherous nature and plunges the companions into an unforeseen, life-threatening predicament.

Act 2

Nyssa emerges from the TARDIS's emergency door into a desolate corridor of an unfamiliar space liner. The Doctor and Tegan follow, the TARDIS's fail-safe mechanism connecting them to the mysterious vessel. Turlough, initially left behind, eventually crawls through the closing doorway, severing their immediate return to the TARDIS. The companions reunite, but their relief is short-lived as they navigate the labyrinthine corridors. They encounter Kari and Olvir, two raiders who blast their way onto the ship, clearly seeking cargo. Simultaneously, Tegan and Turlough face a menacing metal contraption and later, Tegan is attacked by unseen hands reaching through a door, only for Turlough to pull her to safety. The Doctor and Nyssa are captured by Kari and Olvir on the ship's bridge. Kari attempts to commandeer the Doctor's ship, revealing her desperate situation as her own raider vessel abandons them. The Doctor observes the ship's engines, realizing they are not merely adrift but actively docking with another craft, shifting the immediate threat from internal malfunction to an external, unknown destination. The act builds suspense through multiple threats and the growing realization that their new environment holds its own dangers.

Act 3

The space liner's tannoy system activates, broadcasting a chilling announcement that transforms the narrative's central conflict. The automated voice declares "Primary docking alignment procedures are now complete" and instructs "Passengers with mobility should prepare to disembark." The announcement escalates rapidly, warning that "Anyone failing to disembark will be removed" and that "Sterilisation procedures will then follow." The final, ominous pronouncement, "There is no return. This is Terminus," solidifies the dire situation. Olvir, one of the captured raiders, recognizes the name, revealing the ship's horrifying purpose: "This is Terminus, where all the lazars come to die." As if on cue, the skull motif doors throughout the corridors open, releasing a shuffling crowd of cloaked, groaning figures—the "lazars." The Doctor, Nyssa, Kari, and Olvir flee the bridge, while Tegan and Turlough hide beneath a floor plate, narrowly escaping the approaching throng. The act culminates in the horrifying revelation of Terminus's true nature, establishing a new, immediate, and pervasive threat that forces all characters into a desperate fight for survival against a system designed for death.
