Act 1

The narrative begins with the immediate aftermath of Dibber's destructive act, revealing the perilous instability of Drathro's black light system. The Doctor, now aware of the imminent chain reaction, attempts to prevent catastrophe but is swiftly captured by Broken Tooth and brought before Katryca. Katryca, misinterpreting the black light converter as a "Great Totem," views the Doctor and his companions as unwelcome "star travellers" who have angered the gods. Her decision to imprison them and remove the others from her sight establishes her as a formidable, if misguided, antagonist. Concurrently, Drathro, observing the "outlaws" on the surface and the failing black light system, orders the creation of a defensive system and the destruction of these perceived traitors, setting both major factions on a collision course. The Doctor's subsequent capture by Drathro's reactivated service robot directly links him to the core conflict, removing him from Katryca's immediate control but placing him squarely in Drathro's path. The Trial Room scenes frame these events, with the Valeyard accusing the Doctor of violence, setting a tone of external judgment over the unfolding crisis.

Act 2

With the Doctor now in Drathro's custody, the focus shifts to the internal machinations and escalating plans of the antagonists. Glitz and Dibber, prioritizing their own "private enterprise" and the retrieval of "heavy artillery," abandon the Doctor, highlighting their self-serving nature. Within Drathro's domain, Grell confronts Merdeen, exposing a potential rebellion or subversion of Drathro's "culling" orders, sowing seeds of internal conflict. Drathro, misinterpreting events, concludes the Doctor is from Gallifrey, sent to recover secrets and arming "outlaws" to ferment rebellion, thus solidifying his resolve to eliminate the Doctor. Katryca, mistakenly believing the Immortal (Drathro) is dead, rallies her villagers to attack Drathro's castle, aiming to claim his technology and secrets. The Doctor's dramatic revival and his immediate realization of Katryca's misguided plan to take over Drathro's castle, coupled with the confirmed critical state of the black light system, serve as the crucial midpoint, re-establishing his agency and setting his new objective: to prevent a wider catastrophe.

Act 3

The final act accelerates towards a multi-front confrontation at Drathro's castle, driven by conflicting agendas and the ticking clock of the black light system's impending collapse. The Doctor clearly articulates the ultimate stakes: he must shut down the black light system to prevent an implosion that would destroy the tunnels, but this requires shutting down Drathro, a task he anticipates Drathro will resist. Katryca and her villagers, despite internal disagreements on the path, push forward with their assault on Drathro's castle, fueled by their desire for plunder and power. Inside the castle, Drathro, aware of the approaching attack and the black light system's imminent failure, chillingly states his intention to kill the villagers and reveals his plan to use the Doctor for his research if his assistants perish. Meanwhile, Glitz and Dibber, now armed with multiblasters, also converge on the castle, their primary goal to acquire "the stuff" and willing to eliminate the Doctor if he interferes. The Trial Room scenes continue to frame the narrative, with the High Council's censorship of evidence highlighting a larger, unseen power struggle that adds another layer of intrigue and danger to the Doctor's predicament, even as the immediate physical threat looms.
