Act 1

The narrative opens with the Doctor, wrongly accused as the Great Architect, facing a death sentence from the Caretakers. He attempts to reason with the Chief Caretaker, denying his identity and questioning the lack of due process. His execution is unexpectedly postponed when a Caretaker's disappearance demands the Chief Caretaker's attention, hinting at a wider, unexplained threat within Paradise Towers. Meanwhile, Mel and Pex navigate the labyrinthine corridors. Mel expresses frustration with Pex's self-aggrandizing displays of strength and his inability to assist her in finding the Doctor, highlighting Pex's limited utility despite his claims. The Red Kangs gather, discussing the disappearance of their member, No Exit, and conclude she has been 'taken to the cleaners,' reinforcing the sinister reputation of these robotic entities. Back in his confinement, the Doctor probes the Caretakers about the Cleaners' attacks on their own kind and the illogical desire to execute the Great Architect. He cleverly exploits the Caretakers' rigid adherence to their rulebook, manipulating them into a specific, absurd ritual that allows him to steal a key card and escape. His escape marks a significant turning point, shifting his status from a condemned prisoner to an active investigator. The act establishes the Doctor's immediate peril, introduces the mystery of the Cleaners and the missing residents, and showcases his ingenuity in overcoming seemingly insurmountable obstacles, setting the stage for his deeper investigation into the Towers' secrets.

Act 2

Following his escape, the Doctor searches for Mel, while Mel and Pex continue their confused journey through the Towers. Mel grows increasingly suspicious of Pex, questioning his purpose and past, particularly in light of the 'In-betweens' war mentioned by the Oldsters. Pex vaguely claims he was 'sent here' by unnamed powers to protect, but his evasiveness raises further doubts. Concurrently, the Chief Caretaker attempts to downplay the disappearance of Caretaker 345 to his subordinates, attributing it to an 'unlucky accident' rather than acknowledging the Cleaners' potential autonomy. His concern escalates upon learning of the Great Architect's escape, prompting him to order a full security search, initially targeting 'Wallscrawlers.' A chilling scene reveals the Chief Caretaker in the basement, conversing with a hidden, hungry entity he calls 'my pet,' which demands food. He chastises it for consuming a Caretaker without his orders, implying he controls the Cleaners and uses them to feed this creature, and promises it the Great Architect. The Doctor, meanwhile, encounters two Cleaners and narrowly escapes by falling through a wall, landing in the Red Kang Headquarters. Simultaneously, Mel and Pex are captured by the Blue Kangs, who expose Pex's past as a 'scaredy-cat' who hid from the war, shattering his self-proclaimed hero image and causing Mel to lose trust in him and leave. This act deepens the mystery surrounding the Cleaners, reveals the Chief Caretaker's sinister involvement, and exposes Pex's hidden vulnerabilities, further isolating Mel.

Act 3

Exhausted and disheartened after leaving Pex, Mel finds temporary refuge and comfort with the Oldsters, Tilda and Tabby, who welcome her with tea. This provides a brief respite from the escalating dangers. Meanwhile, the Doctor, now safe within the Red Kang Headquarters, attempts to rally Fire Escape and Bin Liner. He tries to convince them that the Cleaners pose a threat not only to Kangs but also to Caretakers, and that the Chief Caretaker is 'off his head,' necessitating a united front. He reveals his knowledge of the Caretakers' rulebook and the 'wipe-out' of their kind. The Doctor points out their shared danger, emphasizing that the Cleaners are killing everyone indiscriminately. He also highlights the mystery of the smoking 'No Entry' door depicted in their wallscrawls, urging them to investigate what lies behind it. The Doctor demonstrates another function of the Talkyphone, revealing it to be a Fizzade dispenser, and again notes the name 'Kroagnon' on the cans, connecting him to the Great Architect and the Towers' design. As the Caretakers, using a tracking device, close in on the Red Kang Headquarters, beginning to cut through their door, the Doctor makes a desperate plea for collaboration. He warns the Kangs that the very existence of Paradise Towers is at stake, urging them to believe him and work together against the common, existential threat. The act culminates in the imminent breach of the Red Kang HQ, forcing a confrontation and solidifying the Doctor's role as the leader trying to unite disparate factions against a looming catastrophe.
