Delta and the Bannermen Part 1

Delta, the last survivor of her planet, flees from the ruthless Bannermen and stows away on a Nostalgia Trip bus bound for 1959 Disneyland, but finds herself instead in a Welsh holiday camp, pursued by her enemies.

The screenplay opens with Delta and Chima, two survivors of an alien planet, escaping from the Bannermen, led by the ruthless Gavrok. After Chima's death, Delta takes an incubator containing an unborn creature and commandeers a spaceship. The Doctor and Mel, traveling in the TARDIS, encounter Delta's ship at Tollport G715, where they are unexpectedly offered a 'holiday' on a Nostalgia Trip to 1959 Disneyland. However, their bus, carrying a group of Navarinos and other tourists, is damaged by a malfunctioning Soviet satellite. Forced to land in a Welsh holiday camp called Shangri La, they become embroiled in a complex web of events as Delta tries to protect the unborn creature from Gavrok, who is determined to capture her. The Doctor and Mel befriend the camp's residents, including Billy and Ray, while navigating the challenges of the camp and the impending arrival of the Bannermen. As tensions rise, Delta's past and her connection to the creature she is carrying are slowly revealed, and the group must work together to prevent a catastrophe.

Act 1

Delta, a Chimeron survivor, desperately flees her home planet as Gavrok's ruthless Bannermen launch a devastating attack. Amidst explosions and the deaths of her people, Delta's protector, Chima, sacrifices his life, enabling her escape. Before dying, Chima entrusts Delta with a crucial incubator containing an unborn creature, which she carries as she commandeers a Bannerman spaceship. Unbeknownst to Delta, the Doctor and Mel, traveling in the TARDIS, arrive at Tollport G715. They unexpectedly win a "Fifties tour" grand prize, a week-long holiday to 1959 Disneyland on Earth. Skeptical but intrigued, they board a heavily modified, retro-styled space bus, "Nostalgia Trips," alongside a group of transformed Navarinos and other tourists. The journey takes an unforeseen turn when a malfunctioning Soviet satellite collides with the bus, causing severe damage and sending it spiraling out of control. The Doctor, acting quickly from the TARDIS, intervenes, using its vortex drive to generate an antigravity spiral, preventing a catastrophic crash. The bus makes a bumpy, emergency landing in a rose bed outside a Welsh holiday camp called Shangri La. This unexpected diversion strands all passengers, and the Doctor diagnoses a jammed navigational pod requiring a new Quarb crystal, necessitating a 24-hour delay for its growth. This incident grounds the diverse group in an unfamiliar 1950s Earth setting, setting the stage for the unfolding narrative.

Act 2

Upon their emergency landing, the Doctor, Mel, Delta, and the other passengers find themselves welcomed by Burton, the jovial camp leader of Shangri La. The Doctor quickly assesses the damaged bus, determining its navigational pod requires a rare Quarb crystal, which he can synthesize, but the process will take approximately twenty-four hours. This enforced delay necessitates the group's temporary integration into the camp's 1950s-themed activities. Local mechanic Billy, along with his friend Ray, offers assistance with the bus repairs, establishing initial connections with the stranded travelers. Simultaneously, Gavrok, relentless in his pursuit, interrogates the Tollmaster, brutally extracting the crucial detail that Delta is now on Earth. Gavrok immediately plots a course for the planet, mobilizing his forces to track her down. As the camp hosts a "Get To Know You" dance, the diverse characters interact, revealing budding relationships and underlying tensions, such as Ray's quiet affection for Billy. The narrative's stakes dramatically heighten when Keillor, a seemingly unassuming passenger from the Nostalgia Trips bus, reveals himself as an informer. He secretly contacts Gavrok, providing Delta's exact location at Shangri La in exchange for a substantial reward. The Doctor, by chance, overhears Keillor's treacherous transmission, confirming the immediate and grave danger now facing Delta and the entire camp, as Gavrok's forces are en route.

Act 3

In the immediate aftermath of the "Get To Know You" dance and the Doctor's discovery of Keillor's betrayal, Mel returns to the chalet she shares with Delta. A subtle shift occurs in Delta's demeanor; she expresses gratitude towards Mel for her kindness and begins to open up, hinting at the profound secret she has been guarding. This moment of vulnerability and connection is dramatically shattered when the incubator, which Delta has meticulously protected since her escape, activates. Its contents, a large, silver, sea-urchin-like egg, begins to hatch with startling speed. Mel reacts with a scream of shock and fear as a distinct green face emerges from the cracking shell, revealing the creature within. Concurrently, Billy, having brought a bouquet of flowers for Delta, bursts into the chalet, witnessing the extraordinary event unfold. Delta, with profound maternal instinct, immediately embraces the newly hatched being, proclaiming it her "beautiful baby." This climactic reveal confirms the true nature of Delta's precious cargo and the immense vulnerability she carries, simultaneously establishing a new, innocent life at the center of the impending conflict, just as Gavrok's forces draw near to Shangri La.
