Act 1

The narrative commences with the Doctor, aided by military personnel, neutralizing a group of Daleks within a school, establishing immediate conflict. Following this initial engagement, a critical discovery emerges: the Daleks have undergone significant mutation, displaying advanced biomechanical integration that elevates their threat level beyond previous encounters. The story quickly clarifies the central conflict involves two distinct Dalek factions—Imperial and Renegade—both intensely pursuing the powerful Hand of Omega. This device, capable of manipulating stellar bodies for time travel, represents an existential threat to the timeline if misused. The Doctor's strategy deviates sharply from simple confrontation; he reveals to Ace a complex, high-stakes deception. His intention is not to prevent the Daleks from acquiring the Hand of Omega, but rather to orchestrate a scenario where the Imperial faction eliminates the Renegades, thereby preventing a radical alteration to the timeline. This intricate plan begins to unfold as Ratcliffe, a human collaborator, successfully unearths the Hand of Omega. His triumph is short-lived, however, as a young girl, revealed to be a Dalek controller, betrays him, leading to the violent takeover of his base by the Renegade Daleks. The Doctor and Ace infiltrate Ratcliffe's compound, where the Doctor disables the Renegade Daleks' time controller, a crucial device for their temporal movements, and deliberately leaves his unique calling card. This act directly provokes the Renegade Daleks, ensuring their focused pursuit of him. The act culminates dramatically with the entry of the Imperial Dalek mothership into Earth's atmosphere, a development that compels the Renegade Daleks to immediately withdraw their forces. This withdrawal marks a significant shift in the immediate conflict, validating the initial success of the Doctor's manipulative strategy and setting the stage for the escalating, factionalized war he has engineered.
