Act 1

In Perivale, a seemingly mundane suburb, a man named Dave mysteriously vanishes, observed by a black cat with piercing yellow eyes. This event establishes a sinister tone. The TARDIS arrives, bringing Ace back to her childhood home, much to her initial boredom. Her casual search for old friends quickly turns to unease. She discovers her familiar youth club transformed into a rigorous self-defense center run by the stern Sergeant Paterson, who espouses a philosophy of “survival of the fittest.” Ace learns that her friends have either “moved on” or, more disturbingly, “vanished.” The Doctor, intrigued by the strange occurrences and the recurring black cat, begins a subtle investigation. He encounters shopkeepers who echo Paterson’s harsh worldview, discussing the “law of the jungle.” This act establishes the core mystery: the inexplicable disappearances of Perivale’s youth and the underlying theme of survival. The Doctor’s decision to use cat food as “bait” marks his commitment to actively confronting the unseen threat, and Ace’s growing realization of the danger facing her community solidifies their involvement.

Act 2

Act Two immediately escalates the stakes. Stuart, one of the youths from the gym, vanishes, confirming the active and predatory nature of the threat. The Doctor proceeds with his plan, setting out cat food as bait, while Ace, still reeling from the news of her missing friends, wanders through Perivale. She soon encounters the mysterious black cat in a playground, which quickly transforms into a terrifying “Cheetah sitting on a rearing horse.” Ace is pursued, and in a flash, finds herself transported to a desolate, volcanic landscape dubbed “Cheetah World.” This dramatic shift reveals the alien nature of the danger. Back in Perivale, the Doctor, now intensely focused on finding Ace, attempts to capture the black cat but is thwarted by Sergeant Paterson, whom he incapacitates with a precise, “one finger” strike. Meanwhile, in Cheetah World, Ace narrowly escapes the Cheetah rider, witnessing Stuart’s capture. She then encounters Shreela, another of her “missing” friends, who provides crucial information about the Cheetahs and the rules of survival in this new, dangerous environment. This act deepens the mystery, introduces alien antagonists, and separates the protagonists into different, equally perilous, situations. Ace’s encounter with Shreela and her subsequent discovery of a camp of survivors shifts her role from a mere victim to a potential agent of resistance within Cheetah World, understanding the immediate needs for survival.

Act 3

Ace fully integrates with the small group of survivors in “Cheetah World,” including her friends Midge and Shreela, along with a new acquaintance, Derek. She learns the harsh realities of their existence: constant movement, the threat of night hunts, and the grim fate of those like Stevie, who became “cat food.” Ace, ever resilient, asserts her determination to “sort them out,” indicating her shift from a frightened victim to an active participant in their survival, ready to confront the Cheetahs. Meanwhile, back in Perivale, the Doctor continues his relentless pursuit of the elusive black cat, which he believes holds the key to understanding and reversing the disappearances. Just as he is about to capture the creature, he is once again interrupted by the persistent Sergeant Paterson, who grabs his ankle. In a climactic moment, as the black cat leaps away, a “Flash!” engulfs both the Doctor and Paterson, leaving their fates ambiguous and creating a powerful cliffhanger. This act brings both narrative threads to a point of intense peril and uncertainty, with Ace preparing for a fight in a hostile alien world, and the Doctor seemingly transported or vanished himself, mirroring the fate of Perivale’s youth. The ending leaves the audience questioning the protagonists’ immediate future and the true nature of the Cheetahs’ power.
