The Doctor and Ace discover a Dalek transmat in the school cellar, triggering an automatic activation that materializes a Dalek. However, as the smoke clears, the victory proves hollow when the Doctor realizes the transmat requires a living controller to operate. Moments later, the Headmaster’s true identity is revealed, sealing the Doctor and Ace in the cellar with the deadly Dalek’s operator still free.
