Kaled Trench Corridor (Death Trap)

A narrow, mud-choked trench corridor on Skaro’s war-ravaged surface where the Kaled defense line has collapsed into grotesque theatrics. The corridor spans the Kaled Battle Trench Sector, a labyrinth of mud-choked pits and crumbling embankments where the earth itself has been turned into a weapon. The walls between sandbagged emplacements sag under years of shelling, their once-regular timbers now split and blackened by fire. Corpses—prop soldiers in decaying Kaled uniforms—stand propped up at irregular intervals among the crumbling parapets, their hollow eye sockets staring blankly ahead, posed like macabre scarecrows to mask the dwindling garrison. Mud cakes the hollows of their upturned faces, their gas-masked eyes already filled with dirt. The air reeks of wet earth, rotted fabric, and the faint metallic tang of poison gas lingering from recent barrages. A locked service door punctuates the trench wall—the Restricted Kaled Trench Door—its reinforced steel showing fresh scrape marks where the Doctor forced it open. Gas shells lie half-buried in the muck, their lethal payloads venting in violent plumes. Stray projectiles have stripped sections of the trench bare, leaving broken bodies to hang in the wire like obscene fruit. The ground is slick with blood and rainwater, every step risking a splash that might expose a corpse’s true nature. Flickering flare tubes and searchlights cast long, swinging shadows over the tableau, making the still figures seem to twitch with the illusion of life. Echoes ricochet through the trench network, mocking calls for the Doctor and Harry as Sarah stands alone, surrounded by the war’s brutality.
