Don't Shoot the Pianist

When the Doctor is mistaken for Doc Holliday, he's arrested by Wyatt Earp, prompting the real Doc Holliday to emerge and Dodo and Kate to take action, all while the Clanton gang plots to capitalize on the confusion.

In the town of Tombstone, the Doctor finds himself in a precarious situation when he's mistaken for the notorious Doc Holliday. Holliday, meanwhile, seeks refuge from the Clantons in his new identity. The Clantons want revenge for their brother Reuben and seek Doc Holliday, who is now operating as a dentist. While at the dentist's office, the Doctor encounters Harper, who recognizes him. This encounter leads to the Doctor getting captured by the Clantons who think he is Doc Holliday.

At the Last Chance Saloon, tension simmers. Steven, a pianist, is forced to play for the Clantons until Kate intervenes and becomes the entertainment. The Doctor arrives at the saloon, still believed to be Doc Holliday, and is recognized again by Harper. Steven tries to help the Doctor who claims to not be Holliday but an explanation falls on deaf ears. Kate vouches for the Doctor as Doc Holliday, an effort to protect him. After a surprise shot gets fired from the Doctor's miswielding of a gun, Kate sees an opportunity take control of the confustion. Meanwhile, the real Doc Holiday, hiding upstairs in Dodo's room, watches events unfold.

Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson arrive, arresting the Doctor, much to the confusion of everyone. Earp is aware that he is not Doc Holliday and that Holiday is in hiding. Kate, Steven, Dodo, and Doc Holliday discuss the Doctor's situation while in Dodo's room. Wyatt Earp insists he take the Doctor into custody to protect him.

Steven, determined to prove the Doctor's innocence, is manipulated by the Clantons into helping them. They want to get a gun into the Doctor's jail cell. The Clantons plan to kill Holliday so that the doctor will get shipped out of town once it is certain he is not Doc Holliday. Meanwhile, Doc Holliday and Kate plan to leave town. Dodo is concerned for the Doctor's safety and wants to free the Doctor who has been wrongly imprisoned.

The Doctor receives a gun from Steven and is encouraged to use it to escape jail, however, the Doctor does not want to use the gun. He provides the gun to Wyatt Earp. The Clantons are angry that Steven returned to the bar, away from the jail, and take Steven hostage. Doc Holliday, Dodo, and Kate see this unfolding. Kate, preparing to leave town, knows that Holliday wants to save the Doctor from jail. The Clantons want Holliday out of jail so they can kill him.

The story escalates. A series of events leads Holliday to defend himself by shooting at the Saloon. In the chaos, Doc Holliday plans to flee with Kate and Dodo. They must escape Tombstone to avoid further danger.

Act 1

The narrative opens in the Last Chance Saloon, where Steven, the pianist, is coerced into performing for the Clanton gang. Despite the Doctor's attempts to clarify his identity, Kate, to protect him, reinforces the mistaken belief. A chaotic moment ensues when the Doctor accidentally fires a gun, which Kate quickly exploits to disarm the Clantons. The real Doc Holliday observes these events from upstairs. The situation escalates with the arrival of Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson, who arrest the Doctor, despite Wyatt's apparent awareness of the true Holliday's identity. The Clantons, now thwarted, turn their aggression toward Steven.

Act 2

Following the Doctor's arrest, Dodo discovers his predicament while confined in her room with the real Doc Holliday and Kate. Holliday dismisses Dodo's concerns, asserting the Doctor's safety under Wyatt Earp's custody. In the Sheriff's office, Wyatt confirms to the imprisoned Doctor that his arrest serves as protection from the Clantons, who remain convinced he is Doc Holliday. Wyatt urges the real Holliday to leave town by morning to prevent a violent confrontation and to allow Earp to address the Clantons' rustling operation with his arriving brothers. Meanwhile, Steven, determined to free the Doctor, falls prey to the Clantons' manipulation. They provide Steven with a gun to deliver to the Doctor, intending for the Doctor to escape, thereby exposing the real Holliday to their vengeance. Holliday and Kate finalize their plans to depart Tombstone, while Dodo's apprehension for the Doctor's well-being intensifies.

Act 3

The Clantons escalate their plan, intending to force the Doctor out of jail. Steven delivers the gun to the Doctor, urging an escape. However, the Doctor refuses the weapon, instead handing it to Wyatt Earp and expressing contentment with his current confinement. Ike Clanton, rallying his gang, publicly declares intent to lynch 'Holliday' at the jailhouse. Upon Steven's return to the saloon, the Clantons seize him as a hostage, planning to coerce the Doctor's escape by threatening Steven's life. From Dodo's room, Kate and Holliday witness Steven's capture. Holliday, seeing his ransacked office, is provoked into action. In the Last Chance Saloon, Seth Harper confronts Holliday, who swiftly draws and shoots Harper, confirming his identity and igniting a full-blown conflict. With the town now actively hostile, Holliday, Kate, and Dodo are forced to flee Tombstone to escape further danger.
