The O.K. Corral

A time-traveling Doctor, reluctantly deputized in Tombstone, must navigate the escalating tensions between the Earps and the Clantons, protect his companions Steven and Dodo, and prevent a bloody showdown at the OK Corral from altering history.

The Doctor, along with his companions Dodo and Steven, finds himself caught in the middle of the infamous Earp-Clanton feud in Tombstone. After an opening ballad foreshadows violence, the Doctor is unwillingly deputized by Wyatt Earp, who needs all the help he can get after his brother Warren is shot by the Clantons. Bat Masterson, the town's sheriff, is caught between upholding the law and Wyatt's thirst for revenge. Virgil Earp delivers Wyatt's challenge to the Clantons, setting the stage for a confrontation at the OK Corral. Steven, held captive by the Clantons, expresses his desire to leave and helps Virgil know their position. The Doctor, desperate to prevent bloodshed and protect Steven and Dodo, attempts to negotiate with Pa Clanton, hoping to convince him to call off the duel in exchange for a fair trial, but Clanton refuses, revealing that Johnny Ringo is an ally.

Doc Holliday arrives in town with Dodo, having been brought there against his will. Virgil voices concern about fighting alongside an outlaw. Holliday, learning that Kate is with Ringo and the Clantons, insists on joining the Earps. The sheriff attempts to persuade Wyatt to pursue more legal methods, but fails. The Doctor, relieved of his deputy duties with Holliday's arrival, seeks out Masterson, hoping diplomacy can avert the inevitable. Masterson agrees and re-pins the badge to The Doctor's coat. The Doctor confronts Clanton, trying to negotiate. Steven attempts to help The Doctor but is quickly silenced by Clanton.

As the sun rises, Ringo positions himself to ambush the Earps during the gunfight. The Clantons and Ringo arrive at the OK Corral, ready for the showdown, Holliday remains behind Wyatt and Virgil. Just before the fight begins Masterson makes a final attempt to prevent the gunfight, but Wyatt is not open to it. During the shootout, Holliday is targeted by Ringo, who holds Dodo hostage. Dodo manages to help Holliday, and Holliday kills Ringo. Eventually, all of the Clantons are killed. Holliday and the Earps prevail. In the aftermath, knowing they'll never find peace, Holliday and Kate decide that they can no longer remain in Tombstone. The Doctor, Steven, and Dodo prepare to depart in the TARDIS. They leave behind a town changed by violence and injustice, with the Doctor lamenting the tragic events. He is very eager to change the scene and find peace away from the American West. The TARDIS lands in the distant future, but it seems that even though the Doctor is confident they have found peace that they are still not safe.

Act 1

This act establishes the violent backdrop of Tombstone and the Earp-Clanton feud, immediately drawing the Doctor into the conflict. Following the death of Charlie the barman, the Doctor is unwillingly deputized by Wyatt Earp, who sees the Doctor's prior accidental display of marksmanship as an asset. The situation escalates dramatically with the shooting of Warren Earp by the Clantons. This act's core function is to set the stage for the inevitable confrontation, with Wyatt Earp issuing a direct challenge to the Clantons for a showdown at the OK Corral. Sheriff Masterson attempts to uphold legal methods, but Wyatt's thirst for revenge overrides his counsel, pushing the Earps outside the law. Steven's capture by the Clantons adds a personal stake for the Doctor, creating immediate urgency beyond the political feud. The narrative quickly moves from establishing the setting to igniting the central conflict, demonstrating the futility of avoiding the escalating violence.

Act 2

The second act intensifies the rising action, focusing on the Doctor's desperate attempts to avert the impending bloodshed and the introduction of critical complications. Steven, held by the Clantons, attempts to escape and send word, revealing Kate's presence with Ringo and the Clantons. Virgil Earp delivers Wyatt's challenge to the Clantons, confirming the showdown and revealing Ringo's strategic plan to ambush the Earps. The Doctor, initially relieved of his deputy duties with Doc Holliday's unexpected arrival alongside Dodo, is then re-deputized by Sheriff Masterson. Masterson, unable to sway Wyatt, implores the Doctor to negotiate with Pa Clanton, offering a fair trial as an alternative to violence. However, Clanton staunchly refuses, revealing Johnny Ringo as an ally and further cementing the inevitability of the gunfight. Steven's attempt to aid the Doctor during negotiations is quickly silenced by Clanton, underscoring the danger and the Clantons' resolve. This act highlights the Doctor's moral struggle against the violent customs of the West, as his diplomatic efforts prove fruitless against the entrenched animosity and desire for vengeance.

Act 3

This act culminates in the long-anticipated gunfight at the OK Corral, resolving the central conflict and setting the stage for the characters' departure. As the sun rises, Ringo positions himself for an ambush, and the Clantons arrive, ready for the confrontation. Sheriff Masterson makes a final, futile attempt to dissuade Wyatt, confirming the fight will proceed. The gunfight erupts, with Dodo's warning enabling Holliday to counter Ringo's ambush. Holliday kills Ringo, then systematically eliminates Billy, Phineas, and Ike Clanton with the Earps' assistance. The Earps and Holliday emerge victorious, but the aftermath reveals the lasting consequences of violence. Doc Holliday and Kate decide to leave Tombstone, acknowledging they will never find peace there. The Doctor, Steven, and Dodo prepare to depart in the TARDIS, with the Doctor lamenting the tragic events and expressing a strong desire to escape the American West. The TARDIS lands in the distant future, initially appearing as a haven of peace, but the final image of a primitive, club-wielding figure immediately signals that their journey for safety is far from over, providing a cliffhanger for the next adventure.
