The Space Pirates Part 3

When the Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe stumble upon Milo Clancey, a suspected space pirate, they become entangled in his escape from General Hermack, leading them to a mining planet and deeper into a conflict with the Issigri Mining Corporation.

The Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe find themselves aboard the spaceship LIZ 79 with Milo Clancey, an old space pirate fleeing General Hermack of the Space Corps. Initially captured by Clancey, they quickly realize he is their only hope of finding the TARDIS, which was lost when the beacon it was attached to broke apart. Clancey, wanted for piracy, is pursued relentlessly by Hermack, who suspects him of selling stolen argonite.

To evade capture, Clancey employs cunning tactics, including releasing copper needles to disrupt the pursuing spaceship's systems. He decides to hide on the planet Ta, the headquarters of the Issigri Mining Corporation, believing Hermack won't expect him to go there because of Clancey's history with Madeleine Issigri.

On Ta, Clancey lands in a deserted freighter dock within a maze of argonite tunnels. He instructs the Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe to stay in the ship while he goes to repair the transmitter. Zoe, however, uses applied mathematics to calculate where the TARDIS might have landed, concluding it's somewhere nearby. Suspicious of Clancey's true motives, the Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe leave the ship to search for the TARDIS, but they quickly become lost in the tunnels. The Issigri Mining Corporation is revealed to be a key player, with General Hermack suspecting Clancey is selling stolen argonite on the black market.

Meanwhile, Caven, one of the pirates, receives orders to reroute sections of Alpha Four to Lobos, a dangerous mission that requires drawing the Space Corps away. As the Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe venture deeper into the mine shafts, they trigger a perimeter alarm, alerting the pirates to their presence. The episode concludes with the Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe lost in the tunnels, the pirates alerted. Milo returns to the ship and finds they have left and sets out again to find them. The Doctor's companions find themselves caught between the pursuing Space Corps and the dangerous pirates, their hope of finding the TARDIS hanging in the balance.

Act 1

General Hermack initiates a determined pursuit of Milo Clancey, a suspected space pirate, believing Clancey is involved in the illicit trade of stolen argonite. Aboard Clancey's ship, LIZ 79, the Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe find themselves unwilling passengers, initially held captive but quickly realizing Clancey is their only immediate means of escape from Hermack. Clancey skillfully evades the Space Corps vessel by deploying copper needles, a unique invention that jams the pursuer's computer guidance systems, buying them crucial time. During this tense flight, the companions learn about argonite, a highly valuable and versatile mineral central to the galaxy's economy, and the broader conflict between the Space Corps and space pirates. Clancey reveals his plan to seek refuge on the planet Ta, the headquarters of the powerful Issigri Mining Corporation, a place he believes Hermack will never expect him to go due to his long-standing animosity with Madeleine Issigri, the corporation's head. After a rough underground landing in an old freighter dock on Ta, Clancey instructs the Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe to remain in the ship while he departs to repair a damaged transmitter. However, Zoe, employing her advanced mathematical skills, precisely calculates the probable landing site of the lost TARDIS, placing it within a ten-mile radius. This critical discovery, combined with their growing suspicion of Clancey's ambiguous allegiances and his deep knowledge of the pirate network, compels the Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe to disregard Clancey's orders and venture into the dangerous, maze-like argonite tunnels in search of their time machine. This decision marks their active engagement with the central conflict, moving them from passive observers to protagonists directly pursuing their objective amidst escalating peril.

Act 2

Having defied Milo Clancey's instructions, the Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe navigate the dark, labyrinthine argonite tunnels of Ta, quickly becoming disoriented and lost, just as Clancey had warned. Their unauthorized presence triggers a perimeter alarm within the mining complex, alerting the resident pirates to intruders. Simultaneously, in the pirates' underground headquarters, Caven, a ruthless pirate leader, confronts Dervish, ordering him to undertake a perilous mission: reroute sections of Beacon Alpha Four to Lobos, the pirates' main base. This strategic maneuver aims to divert the Space Corps' attention, revealing the pirates' organized and dangerous operations, and raising the stakes of the conflict. Dervish, expressing grave concerns about the mission's extreme danger due to the heavy Space Corps presence, is coerced into compliance by Caven, who brandishes a gun, underscoring the brutal authority within the pirate ranks. Back in the tunnels, the companions hear an ominous buzzing noise, signaling an unknown but immediate threat ahead. Meanwhile, Milo Clancey returns to the LIZ 79 to find his passengers gone. Frustrated by their disobedience, he arms himself with a gun and a haversack, then sets out into the treacherous tunnels to locate them, adding another layer of pursuit and an unpredictable element to the unfolding drama. The Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe are now caught between the immediate danger of the alerted pirates, the unknown threats of the deep tunnels, and Milo's ambiguous search, with the Space Corps still a looming external threat.

Act 3

The Doctor, Jamie, and Zoe find themselves in a precarious and increasingly dangerous situation, deep within the dark, fissure-strewn lower tunnels of Ta. Their earlier decision to leave the LIZ 79 has plunged them directly into the heart of the pirate complex, where the perimeter alarm has already signaled their presence, making them actively hunted targets. The ominous buzzing noise they hear ahead signifies an immediate, unidentified threat, intensifying the tension and underscoring their vulnerability. Simultaneously, Milo Clancey, whose true intentions remain ambiguous, is now actively searching for them within the same treacherous tunnel system, adding another layer of unpredictable pursuit. The overarching conflict between General Hermack's Space Corps and the space pirates continues to escalate, with Hermack's forces preparing to converge on Lobos, the pirate base, where the broken beacon sections—and potentially the TARDIS—are being transported for salvage. The companions are thus caught in a complex web of converging dangers: the relentless pursuit of the Space Corps, the immediate threat of the alerted and ruthless pirates, and the uncertain intentions of Milo Clancey. Their hope of recovering the TARDIS and their very survival hang precariously in the balance as the episode concludes on a high-stakes cliffhanger, leaving their fate unresolved amidst the deepening conflict.
