The Monster of Peladon Part 1
When the Federation's sonic lance excavation on Peladon unleashes the vengeful spirit of Aggedor, the Doctor must unravel the mystery behind the haunting and prevent war between the miners and the royal court.
In the mountainous planet of Peladon, the Galactic Federation, led by Ambassador Alpha Centauri, has established a mining operation to extract the valuable mineral trisilicate. The local miners, led by Ettis and Gebek, are wary of the Federation's advanced technology and fear it will replace them. Tensions rise when the spirit of Aggedor, a sacred figure in Peladon mythology, appears, seemingly brought forth by the Federation's sonic lance. The spirit's wrath results in the death of a miner, causing widespread panic and superstition among the workers.
Queen Thalira, who succeeded her father King Peladon, is caught between her loyalty to the Federation and her people's growing discontent. Chancellor Ortron, a high-ranking official, seeks to exploit the situation to consolidate his power and control. Meanwhile, the Doctor and his companion Sarah Jane arrive on Peladon, drawn by the Doctor's past connection to King Peladon.
As the Doctor investigates the appearances of Aggedor, he discovers that the spirit is actually a ruse used to manipulate the miners and further the interests of certain factions within the Federation. The Doctor must navigate the complex web of alliances and rivalries between the Federation, the royal court, and the miners to prevent an all-out rebellion and war. Along the way, he must also confront the true culprits behind the sabotage and the appearances of Aggedor.
The Doctor's actions lead to a deeper understanding of the situation, and he works to expose the truth, protect the innocent, and find a peaceful resolution to the conflict. Through his efforts, the Doctor aims to honor his past friendship with King Peladon and help the planet achieve a better future.

The narrative beats that drive the story
The narrative opens deep within Peladon's mountains, where miners, led by Ettis, operate a Federation sonic lance. A mysterious, peculiar noise heralds the appearance of 'Aggedor,' a sacred spirit, resulting in a miner's death and widespread panic. This incident immediately fuels the miners' superstitious fears and their distrust of the Federation's advanced technology. In the Throne Room, Queen Thalira, caught between her people's traditions and the Federation treaty, faces Chancellor Ortron's concerns and the Federation's pragmatic representatives: Eckersley, Nexos, and Ambassador Alpha Centauri. Nexos dismisses the Aggedor theory, suggesting sabotage, while Thalira, seeking to calm her people, requests a public demonstration of the sonic lance. The Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith arrive on Peladon, their TARDIS materializing in a tunnel. After a brief period of being lost, they are quickly apprehended by palace guards. They are brought before Queen Thalira and Ortron, accused of sacrilege and sabotage. The Doctor attempts to leverage his past friendship with King Peladon, Thalira's father, but Ortron remains suspicious. Alpha Centauri's timely arrival and vouching for the Doctor leads to their release into the Ambassador's custody, though Ortron continues to voice his distrust. Meanwhile, the miners' discontent intensifies. Gebek, a more patient leader, seeks an audience with the Queen to plead for the Federation's departure, while Ettis secretly mobilizes other miners for an armed rebellion. They attack the Federation armoury. Gebek's meeting with Thalira is interrupted by news of the attack. Gebek and Preba, one of the rebellious miners, are captured. The Doctor intervenes, arguing against their immediate execution, warning Thalira of the potential for civil war if Gebek becomes a martyr. He proposes to prove that Aggedor's appearances are mere trickery. Thalira, swayed by his logic, grants him permission to investigate. Escorted by the Queen's Champion, Blor, the Doctor proceeds to the cave where Aggedor last appeared. Unbeknownst to them, Ettis has planted explosives, and as the Doctor enters the cave, Ettis detonates them, causing the tunnel mouth to collapse and trapping the Doctor inside.
